Lucid Dreaming as a Child

So, just out of curiosity, did anyone intentionally LD as a child without actually knowing what it was? When I was about 5, I taught myself to, although my goal was not actually to control the dreams. I was a very curious kid and I always had extremely vivid dreams. After a while, I started to wonder why I could never remember how the dream started. So I began to try, every night, to remember how the dream started or to at least become conscious during the dream so that I could take note of it. After about a week of trying, I became lucid during the very beginning a dream. However, I didn’t actually do anything because my goal of remembering how the dream started was completed. I LDed about 2 or 3 times after that intentionally, but afterwards I didn’t really care anymore. If only I had realized what I could have done with those LD’s…

But I didn’t. I didn’t even know what a LD was. It was sheer curiosity that brought me to my LD’s, but I didn’t even realize what they were at the time! I was semi-lucid in most of my dreams as a child, and I thought that that was as far as was possible to control the dreams. But my interest for dreams persisted. Seven years later, I was tried searching up whether shared dreaming was possible and came across LD’s. I achieved my first LD in 2 weeks and have been a LDer ever since.

So, I’m just wondering, did this ever happen to anyone else? Has anyone else LDed as a child? Did you know what you were doing at the time, if so? I find this very interesting, and I wonder how many kids LD without even realizing what they’re doing…

The only time I remember having a lucid dream was whenever I had nightmares. Whenever I was scared I would become lucid and aware I was dreaming. I did not know how to control my dreams but the only thing I knew how to do was wake up, I taught myself to wake up every time from any nightmare honestly If I knew about lucid dreaming at the time I would actually want to have a nightmare just so I could become lucid and control my dreams

Almost the same for me. I was able to wake myself up from nightmares and I could recognize when a dream was about to form itself. When I noticed that this would become one of my typical nightmares, I could change the dream so that it wasn’t a nightmare anymore or I woke myself up to test if the next dream would be a more pleasant one. I didn’t know about LD’ing neither did I know what I was doing. Besides this, during my first year of elementary school I’ve had a short series of dreams in which I taught myself how to fly with wings. I don’t think that I really knew I was dreaming, but I knew that this was a world in which I could do anything.
