Lucid Dreaming during Deep sleep

Dream lucidity can be higher or lower due to a few factors e.g. Experience, Dream Recall, Different Methods for induction etc.
I am well aware that it not only depends on one factor, but I am here to discuss how the TIME OF THE SLEEP CYCLE affects Lucidity. When I said time of the sleep cycle I mean how would lucidity differ between 1 hour of sleep (If its even possible) and 5 hours of sleep, and everything in between, if any difference.

I would like to know because my lucid dreams are the very last dreams I have before waking up, and after having that dream I cannot sleep any further because my body wants to be awake. I feel like this is making my dreams shorter and less vivid and lucid, and I feel like it makes me wake up from my lucid dream very easily.

So I would like to know in terms of only this one factor:

1.Are lucid dreams possible during the night and not just before you wake up.(Like the first or second cycle of sleep)

2.If so a link or quick description on how to do it.

3.When are dreams more likely to be most lucid?

I make it sound difficult so here is an example of what I would like to hear:

p.s. I didn’t do much research and I’m taking the easy way out here so criticism is welcome and you may take your anger out on me for being the noob that I am

First of all, no one takes there anger on a “noob” around here (only on people that call others “retards”, like in your last quote  )

Anyway, it is possible to be lucid all night long. It is even possible to become lucid in non-REM sleep, although it’s rare and you’d need a lot of experience for that. So, yes, it is possible to get lucid in the first sleep cycles, but it tends to be harder. That’s why it’s usually suggested to try to get lucid after a few hours of sleep, since you are already sleepy and in a dream mind set.

To WILD in the first cycle, you’d have to stay aware for about 90 minutes, since that’s usually how long it takes to enter the first REM phase. Feel free to try it, but it’s usually not advised for beginners.

In my experience I can say that I can remember one or two LD’s that were after 1-3 hours after going to bed. The majority I’ve had after 5-8 hours. So I don’t know of any special techniques to get lucid in those cycles. I’d guess perhaps using more specific auto-suggestions and/or getting used to waking up after every single dream.

About when dreams tend to be more lucid, I believe LD’s TEND to be more lucid the closer to the end of the sleep night, since you’ve already gotten a good amount of sleep and it’s easier to keep your mind more awake. But that is just a matter of practice. It’s possible to get a high level of lucidity in other cycles as well.

That cleared up a lot for me, I wasn’t aware that you dream during N-REM stages.
And I also thought about waking up after every single dream, but I would think that after a while it gets a bit of a drag and that there should be easier ways.

As for the WILDing I will give it a shot in the future.

But thank you for the information and insight, it’s always appreciated. :handshake:

well, i have had a LD after just an hour or two after going to sleep. but mostly i have them in the morning. but even more so mostly  i have them during naps… it’s much, much, much easier to have one in a nap. last time i tried WILD in a nap, 10-15 minutes was enough.

also they say you drop into REM faster when you’re sleep deprived. you usually have more dreams then too.

mattias! thank you! you gave me an idea… you see, WILDs usually take 90 minutes to kick in during my naps even, and i can do them during naps. so i should be able to do this in the evening too. i’ll try  but usually when i try, i am too sleepy and can’t keep it up xD maybe it’s ok in the day cause i’m less sleepy… but thanks for giving me this idea!

You can dream at any time during sleep. It’s just that during NREM sleep dreams are far less vivid and dull.

Better said ‘not for beginners easily disappointed.’ If you never try to WILD do you expect to be able to eventually? According to the laws of probability, if you try to WILD every time you go to sleep you will probably succeed at least once if not more. Therefore, every time I go to sleep I try to use some sort of WILD like technique such as alternating between WILD and VILD to keep me aware. So far, I haven’t successfully WILDed yet, but I’ve only been trying this method since the 10th of June, missing a day or two, and I’ve come close in some cases slipping into SP. In short, if you never try, you never will so my advice to everyone who wants to WILD don’t be downtrodden if you don’t succeed; see it as a step towards success and not away from.

@Scipio Xaos: yes! that was what I wanted to say. I couldn’t have said it any better  I even used to try to WILD at the start of the night, even knowing that it was very unlikely that I would succeed. It sure is a useful practice.

@avalina: good luck! I rarely nap, so when I do I don’t even recall dreams
