Lucid Dreaming Password

Remember in certain video games, when if you got to a certain level, you’d be given a password? That way when you next played the game, you could enter your password and immediately pick up where you left off? What if you could do this with a LD?

On Sunday night I had bizarre dreams, I wonder if it’s because I saw Inception that night but that’s all asides from the point.

My Dream:
In my dream I went through a very routine, nothing-out-of-the-ordinary night, asides from the fact that it was not my bedroom I fell asleep in, and was, instead, a room resembling some sort of royal chamber. I crawled into my bed and fell asleep.
Now this is where it gets really weird. I woke up in my own bed, in my room (false awakening). I immediately became lucid, without any reality checks, when I woke up I just knew I was dreaming. Still lying in my bed, I heard a deep voice, and I was unable to figure out where it was coming from, however, it informed me that I was in a lot of danger. It then told me that “it was time for me to become a true dreamer” and that “I’m entering you into the katakana level.”
Now after being told all these bizarre things, I went into sleep paralysis, in my dream. This was the most bizarre experience of my life, hands down, as I knew I was dreaming, but I knew this was sleep paralysis. I found myself unable to move and had nightmarish visualizations of people running towards my bed side in a violent looking manner as well as intense flashes of light this went on for what felt like about 15 minutes until I woke up.
But on to my point, every night since I have replaced my regular mantra with simply the word “katakana”, as it felt like it was some sort of “key” into lucid dreaming.
So far I’ve had a lucid dream every night (EDIT: That would be 2 nights in a row) using this mantra, not only that, but they’ve been some of the most stable LD’s I’ve ever had! In all of them, I have woken up in my bedroom as if starting a new day, just as when I had learned the word “katakana.”
The first night I used my katakana mantra I didn’t even need a RC, I just knew I was dreaming, the second night however, I crawled out of my bed and did an RC, before I became lucid.

So here I go:

 1. Has anyone else discovered this as well?
 2. Is there anyone who is good at summoning their subconscious/DG who could ask for a password like mine to test if this method would work for them as well?

Ok, I just wanted to say that that is awesome, and i will be trying this if i can ever get lucid again and if i ever meet my dream-guide.

Oh, and i had a weird dream after seeing Inception also.

Woow haha that’s pretty cool! :content:
Did you know Katakana is like some Japanese vocabulary?

Yeah, I think everyone I’ve asked has had strange dreams after seeing Inception, although, I think it’s understandable thing to give you strange dreams.

Haha, yeah, I knew that, it’s an awfully strange word to have come up and I could never guess why that word of all words, but it seems to be doing me wonders, so I won’t question it! :content:

It’s strange you know. But the mind gets influenced by that. If you do say a word and you believe that that word will let you have a LD, then you will have a LD. It’s about the mind.

And, Apeiron. It seems to me very difficult to believe that you had a LD every night, when in total you had only had 5… How do you say this word ? I mean, when do you ? Simply before going to sleep you just say “katakana” or whatever that word is ? That simple ?

Please explain this to me…

I have 5+ written as I have 4 recorded LD’s that were truly an amazing experience, I’ve had roughly 3-5 other ones where I woke and remembered very little, or woke up almost immediately after becoming lucid. To be fair, “every night” is so far only two nights, (I suppose I should have made that more clear) I’m not sure if it’ll continue to be every night, though I truly would love that!

I’ve been using mantras for a while now when I attempt to LD (around four months I think) and while every LD I had I had using a mantra, a lot of nights I used a mantra to no avail. I simply replaced my mantra of “I will become lucid in my dreams” with “katakana.” What I do is simply focus my thoughts onto repeating it over and over until I fall asleep, and block out any other thoughts as well.

I think I answered all of your questions there, sorry if I didn’t explain very well, it’s awfully late here.

Thanks. It helped. I get it. You replace your mantra… now everyone who wants to apply this method needs to think of a word which is meaningful for himself/herself. That’s the worst part. I can’t think of any wonderful word like that …

If you can you should ask your subconscious/DG/Anyone in your next LD!
I would most certainly agree that I couldn’t come up with a wonderful word like that on my own either, but I think what makes the word so wonderful is that it was given to me in a dream, and that the word has next to no meaning to me asides from that.

Actually, phrasing that sentence the way I did, it makes it obvious to me why this works to begin with, I’m using a mantra that means literally nothing to me other than LD.

I’m happy you found your way to get LD’s easily. The word “katakana” means “fragmentary kana” in Japanese. Katakana is the most easiest Japanese syllabary, it’s one of the components of the Japanese writing system.
Me personally haven’t got an LD (although I remember some weird dreams from past; falling down from above clouds and flying with a broom and feeling the heights when I was sleeping (I am afraid of heights)). I found out about lucid dreaming 4 days ago. I am keeping a DJ, but I am having trouble remembering/recalling dreams. I’m also doing Reality Checks, ocassionaly. Maybe 5 to 15 times a day. I am sorry if I’m rude, talking about myself in this thread. If anyone has tips, PM! Good luck, Apeiron. I think it’s more your thoughts than the word itself, you think about the word giving you the power to see an LD and then you will.

This is a good topic I’m gonna try this at night .

I’m starting a thread in the lucid lab on this, because its so interesting. You can find it here.

–edit–
YES! aperion, your idea is genious! I got an hour long LD from it (average length) after using my password axiom. I actually decided upon it in RL because it sounded really good (I know, kinda cheating). this idea is awesome! results after 2½ days, which is the best (and only apart from CALD) results Ive ever had. If there ever was a “holy grail of lucid dreaming” (by the way, that term is greatly overused) then at least for me, this is it.

i think its quite fortunate that your DG assisted you on this…i’ve been dying to meet my DG so as to know some hint (or maybe password) that may help me to get lucid rightaway…

its quite apparent that such a password or mantra can make your belief very strong n the placebo effect does amazing wonders after this…

i hope i would get something tonight…

This morning I just became lucid after doing a reality check. then I remembered the password.

Well my prior suspectable password, “harry” just seemed like it wouldn’t be it. so I asked my subconscious like this, “Subconscious, tell me a password to have a lucid dream.”
I was staring at a door lock and on the side of it was some writing. First it said, “Whatever” then it changed to “Focus” and then it changed to “dreamcube”:(Isn’t there an ld4all memeber named dreamcube?) Well I felt like none of those would be a password, so I though, “whatever,…I just need to focus on the dream.” lol

Then I had a FA
This is interesting because in the FA I was telling someone that I got a LD password and the password was something like, “Vodek” they made fun of me saying, “vodek” a few times, like it was just silly, but then I became lucid in the middle of my next ND .

So that’s my story, but it’s still not very clear. The next time I get lucid, I’m going to attempt this again.

I agree, after doing this i have 97% faith in this technique (which most of the time is all that is required.) I forgot to do it last night. What i do is before sleeping, i pretend my SC is a computer, and it says Please enter your password, which i do. then i repeat my password over and over for like 30 seconds, and then just go to bed.

This sounds amazing!
I like the idea of having a personal word to initiate LD’s…
Definately will try this.
Thanks,
Bodom (David)

I have my password too =DD
But as I’ve posted in another topic, I wanna try something diferent:
Try in your LD to “summon” a character named “RaZoR” (the alias I use in DW), then as “me” my password and PM me!!! Don’t know if it works, however if it does, it’ll mean some new kind of “dream comunication system”.

Hint: my password is a six-digit hexadecimal number!

#Six, give “Vodek” a try. It might just be your password, given to you in a weird way in a FA!

I actually tried this a few times and did have tiny lucid moments (don’t know why I stopped trying… :shy: I just used a name of a place from a ND. I thought maybe any word created in a dream has a strong dream link (or whatever ).

Thanks for the encouragement, mattias.
I will give it a try. I actually forgot last night.
That’s neat, to name a place you dreamed about. There must be something special about that. I did go to a land in a lucid dream and got the name of it. Sometime I should will myself back to that place. Well, for now, I’ll see what , “Vodek” will do for me.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe the SC will link a unique name created in a dream directly to dreams, since there is no connection to WL…

I tried it last night, don’t know how much it had to do with my lucid moments this morning though. I ened up visiting another city with a new name!
