I just found out what Lucid dreams were yesterday, and had my second (first one knowing that it was Lucid) last night. I have some questions:
I’m not surprised, but last night’s dream was most likely an FLD, because I only knew I was dreaming, and could make no changes to anything.
RC, WBTB, MILD, and DILD are the methods that I believe were used to induce my FLD dream last night. It wasn’t very vivid, and didn’t last long, but I suppose its a start. What are the absolute best methods I can use?
I admit, I’m very skeptical of basically everything by my nature, but I believe almost all of this because of the power of the mind. I really only have little belief for shared dreams as of now.
Any tips would be appreciated. I read most of the other topics that have to do with starters, but none fit my perfectly, so I decided to make my own topic. There were too many to look through, so I’m sorry if this was posted before
On another note, my goal is to face any fears in LDs. I want to induce an LN, or an LD and turn it into something that would normally scare me. Another goal is to impliment that “One million words per minute” thing to learn while I sleep; however, I do not understand this, and cannot find any guides/topics explaining it.
hello Kaphixzorz welcome to LD4all congrats on your LD last night too
Lucidity is knowing you are dreaming while actually dreaming. Just because you couldn’t achieve things in the dream doesn’t make it a FLD. Control often follows becoming lucid, but you have to believe you have the power and find ways of doing things. Also LDs can range from low level ones to high level ones.
In my opinion, you used the best methods. next time use some stabilising techniques once you are lucid. using commands work eg “lucidity x 1000” or “more lucidity” works. Also feeling surfaces in your dream or rubbing your hands together will stabilise it too. If you feel the dream is really fading, spinning can sometimes help.
I’m very confused about this 1 Million Words Per Minute thing. What’s all this talk about using a computer and frames per second programming. Is it telling us to dream about this and use it as a medium to learn things faster in dreams? Like we’re not really using the computer, just so it makes some sense to our brains? I really don’t know, anyone else get it?
Honestly, it doesn’t matter; both are excellent ways to keep a journal and it really depends upon what you prefer to do. One thing to note however, is that should you chose to type your dreams out, not only can you produce unlimited copies of it, (so you never lose it) but you can also copy and paste it into your DJ topic in the forum. Although another thing to consider is that when a journal is written out by hand and is actually physically on paper, it always seems more special, to me at least.
That’s why I type AND write!
It’s a natural chemical that your body makes for the very reason of sleep, so I can’t imagine how it could harm your recall, (then again, I use melatonin and my recall has reached a new low, (Just check my up-to-date Dream Journal!!))
I’m sure everyone has their own personal preference in regards to their DJ, but what I’ve found works best for me is once I wake up from a dream, I write out brief, point form lines of what happened in a dream on a pad of paper next to my bed. If there was dialogue I want to remember I write it out word-for-word.
eg: -just at home
-nose test… shock!
-ok stay calm, it’s lucid
-wake up
(this is how a recent short LD was described on the paper next to my bed)
Then I get out of bed, grab a drink, maybe something to eat, etc. Once I flip on the computer and visit here. I write out the dream in full, referring to my hand-written notes to keep the chronology in check. That’s rarely a problem though, as just writing them out by hand once I wake up seems to reinforce the dream images that would otherwise fade or become confused within minutes/hours of waking.
