There have been discussions on how the body has its own internal clock, right? Like you say you want to get up at 6, and your body just wakes you up. My question is…do you think it’s possible to look at your watch or clock before you go to bed, then while you’re having a lucid dream, you create a watch that can actually display the real time?
Yep and i have done it but you dont always need to look at the clock b 4 bed, your mind as an internal clock, mine has been acc about 70% of the time without looking at a clock b 4 bed.
Mind you it is a pain how time changes in the dream
Then you would need to wake up straight away and check the time against a real clock (at least with the first few tries). What a waste of a lucid dream!
Perhaps something about this should be in the Laboratory.
my internal clock is also quite accurate, but like r3mot said you’d have to wake right up and verify, no way of knowing otherwise
So is this a consistency within dreams?
Oh, I’ve had FA’s where I watched the clock, then I woke up and the time was pretty close. But I wouldn’t rely on it if you have to get out of bed on time
LaBerge did an experiment in which he proved this for the most part. He had people omve their eyes in their dream body in a certain pattern during a lucid dream, while having a mchine hooked up to their real eyes to measure when the pattern to place. It was accurate and proved that dream time is very close, if not exact, to real time. this is in his book “Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming”
Wasn’t that experiment more about length of time (measuring 10 seconds for example) rather than knowing the clock time?
Yes, actually.
yes it was, I was a little vague. But hey its still interesting
If you are lucid from the moment of falling asleep, and all the way until awakening, your perception of time will match the actual time passing in RL. But in addition to this, you’d need to have a lot of control in your LD and actively keep increasing the time on your watch every minute or so. This would require a great deal of concentration, I think.
So I guess It’s possible in theory.
hmmm i might post it in the lab right now, nice idea. and you dont have to wake up right away think about it, if it read 2:25 and then five minutes later you wake up (by rough ess that is) you can tell roughly by looking at the clock near you if you were close… by rough esstimate that is
Yes tech consit that means there are, go your lab topic
