Sometimes I find myself becoming lucid when I have no dream-body, and I’m just watching other dream characters do other things like a fly-on-the-wall.
Any ideas how I could take control in a situation like this? It is frustrating.
I have tried to possess other dream characters, but that doesn’t work, I just end up making them do another thing, and I don’t ‘become’ them. Also I have tried closing my eyes and opening them again with a dream body… But that doesn’t work because I don’t have eyes
This seems to happen to me alot also, whether in a LD or ND. I find myself entering many DC’s within the dream and it’s quite odd… I’m still actually more of an observer in the dream when this happens, rather than being one person. I’m pretty sure this doesn’t happen to alot of people, but I could be wrong. Some people actually try to lose their dream-body in dreams, and find it very difficult. In any case… I actually enjoy not having a dream-body or shedding it purposefully, unless I’m on the prowl for some sensual stimulation.
A very interesting and amazing thing to do when this happens, is meditate. The word void will take on a whole new meaning.
Dreams are created by thoughts, and you wouldn’t need a body in them, but it’s just a way to relate to the experience. It would be pretty weird to be without a body, huh? (For most people ^^)
Observing as pure consciousness seems more natural =P
But if you want to have a body, just act as though you already have one =P Run around and “wave your arms” ^^
You’ll probably get one =P
I think practicing without a body seems nice, seeing you’re gonna lose it someday
My recommendation would be to realize that you do have a body! You’re just looking through it’s eyes I have some dreams like that, but it’s more of a cinematic effect, usually I vary between being in my body, watching myself (still with control) and seeing somewhere besides my body relating to my dream’s storyline (for instance evil witch coven kidnaps my wife/daughter/friend/girlfriend, I’m not really sure, and then for a while I’m chasing them in my own body (possibly partially 3rd person) and then they get away. After I see them drive off, and I say “let’s go home” or something, I suddenly see the witch type coven talking, but I’m not there.) I used to think that everyone had dreams like that, but apparently not.
nods good ideas. It’s just a matter of trying different things I guess.
Maybe I could try to move my RL body. Becaues whenever I try to do that in an LD, I find myself apparantly waking up, but really it’s still a dream. I just ‘expect’ myself to be moving my real body, and disturb my sleep waking myself up. So if I did that it would probably give me a body in the resulting dream.
That’s a great idea! A False Awakening Enhanced Lucid Dream! (FAELD or FAILD), on second thought make that the False Awakening Induced Lucid Dream (FAILD) for nearly “Failed” lucid dreams! That would probably even reset the waking up effect that I have! It’s pure genius! It’s so seemingly idiotic that you would never think of it, but in reality it’s genius!
I’m a novice and have never experienced what you described but I do have some suggestions.
Don’t let yourself get frustrated. There’s a reason why things are the way they are. Forget about the DC’s for a bit and let your mind be totally at ease as if meditating and passively experience just being ‘where’ you are.
Look in the mirror that is directly behind you (trust me it’s there. ) Maybe you do have some sort of form.
Maybe your imagination is frustrated and feels confined. In a dream possibilities are infinite, yet when most of us dream the worlds we create resemble the waking world that we inhabit with a few surprises tossed in as if they were afterthoughts. How uninspired! Perhaps your imagination is trying to signal that it wants to branch out and break free from the obligatory territory of what’s familiar.
…or maybe your body is in another dimension and it is holding a machine gun and you can aim it at the DC’s in the dimension your conscious mind occupies and you can waste those suckers!
Oh, I had no dream-body in one of my lucid dreams It gets a bit trickier to do the nose RC when your hand keeps going through you but that worked quite well anyway.
