"lucidity club" at school?

hey guys

Ever since i started getting into lucid dreaming, i have been telling a lot of people about it. Almost ever reaction goes something like this
" WOW thats soooooo coool! control my dreams?!?!?"
Even sometimes i get:
" Is that really special? I do that all the time! I didnt know i could actually do anything i wanted in them!"

i was thinking about starting a “lucidity club” at school.
many people seem interested in lucid dreams, and didnt even know about it before. Besides informing about it and discussingtechniques, i think it would be a fun way to share experiences and learn from each other (like ld4all!).
What do you guys think?
And any ideas for things to do at meetings?

Well, I can’t say that I personally get the same responses as you…lol. Since I don’t really know your school, I cannot say, but if it was my school, I’m pretty sure my administrators would look at me funny if I brought up the idea of a lucidity club. And the people that would join, if any did, would probably make fun in some way and picture it as a joke. But I guess that’s my school…lol.

If you think enough people will like it, I would suggest not starting an official club at school, but rather gather up a group of people and just meet at local places.

But yeah, that’d be great because having more lucidity in your every day conversation does lead to lucidity appearing more and more in your dreams, not to mention that the fact of being able to have people to talk to IRL about this stuff would be cool as is.

Yeah im with Ben on this one. Everyone except my brother that I try to converse with about lucid dreams gives me a strange look, or enquires why it would be interesting at all, or worth learning.

So in short I’d say you have our envy of living in an area so populated by avid lucid dreaming youth. Good luck to you.

Do it, I have been getting a lot of the same responses you have. There are more lucid dreamers out there than you know. I have been meeting many new ones just in my school. I say the more people you can teach lucid dreaming the better.

I’m sure some people will make fun of it but they are the ones limiting themselves. Not like it doesn’t happen everywhere with pretty much everything. So ignore the people making themselves look dumb and hopefully help your mind understand you want more lucidity.

Well, if you’re really into drama and such, you could act out what you did in the dream for laughs. hahaha, that could get a bit too perverted after a while, so maybe not, haha.

I would probably create tasks and stuff to do in your next lucid dream and stuff. It would be a lot easier to do this expiriments with people you knew in real life, and stuff like that. Probably talk about stuff like that, and what you did in your last dream, highlights, tips to improve the clarity of the dreams, and so forth.

lol ya i dunno about the acting out thing…
ha
i was thinking requiring everyone who enters the room to do a reality check. hahaha

I have not told about my lucid endeavors to many people, just my girlfriend and couple of folks on IRC. The reactions were in the same vein mentioned here. My some are not excited: “You know that you are dreaming and able to whatever you want? Ho hum…”. Incidentally, I also talked to one person, who had number of lucid dreams, but clearly does not realize the possibilities and essentially goes along with the dream’s script using his control to solve some troubles in dream, while he could just go away and something more interesting.

I’m pretty sure that most people would look at me in a strange way if I mentioned lucidity in dreams. I don’t believe that many people would take me seriously. Once I tried opening the topic about LD’s with my father but that didn’t go well… :eh:
So I can only imagine what kind of mockery would a lucid club be at my school :shy:

Why would people not jump at the possibility of controling their dreams!!

Well if told people I would be the  one around.

people would probally make fun of me or not belive me:(

Most of people does know what lucid dreaming is, when you will say about Vanilla Sky. Everyone saw it. I guess that if I told ablout lucid dreaming, I’d get answers like “It’s not possible” or “Maybe, but its not worthy effort”. Propably that subject would be one to joke about. I dont see point in telling about that stuff anyone.

If you are sure that you want to, but I dont think that it’s so many people that you need to do a club. If you want to - good luck.

I get the regular

  1. “Oh, well, cool, I guess” tries to change the subject
  2. “Really? I have them all the time. So you can do whatever you want? Didn’t know it was such a big thing”
  3. “They call it daydreaming”
  4. “You shouldn’t mess yourself up with those things!”
  5. “You can’t control your dreams” starts nagging about how it’s simply impossible, not giving me a chance to explain

… so I don’t think I should make such a big thing out of it at school. I might write an essay, but I won’t form a group or something

Hmm… the response i usualy get is:
“So what’s the big deal? Come on grow up and start thinking about things that actualy matter in life…”
:bambi:

I’ve told all my friends about it, and they mostly respond like they like the idea and would try it if it were easyer. However, 2 of my friends actually have natural LD’s all the time to one degree or another. But you know, like most naturals, they don’t fully understand their potential. One of them actually tried my tips, like summoning her subconsious and asking it questions. She said it worked very well. I’ve got her now attempting do share a dream with those of us with good dream recall. And now I’ve gotten most of them to the point of at least wanting to remember their dreams better, since I said it’s so frikin funny and awsome to read a dream journal of any length months after writing it. I think that even if you aren’t motivated enough to shoot for LD’s, remembering ND’s are really cool anyway.

that’s a really neat idea

you could all meet and brainstorm a shared dream environment, create what would be in it, and use club meetings to design it, then everyone would try to WILD to it every night, maybe even at a specific time like "okay guys every night at 4 a.m. we do wbtb and try to go to our dreamscape

ya sounds cool.
ive already got about 6 people that would definelty be interested. you think thats enough to get started?

I think people over here on the east coast are more close-minded when it comes to things like LDing and meditation. I’ve mentioned it in conversations with friends a few times while we were on the subject of dreaming. It seems like women are more likely to say it’s a load of crap, but guys on the other hand have had some interesting responses.

Guy: “I had this crazy dream last night…” (talks about it)

Me: “Have you heard that some people can control their dreams because they realize that they are dreaming?”

Guy: :notify: “Dude, that would kick ass, I could have sex with like 50 women!” :nodnodwinkwink:

Me: :lmao:

That is how the interested people usually respond. I would take an earlier poster’s advice and avoid making it an official club(they’d probably think it was some kind of witchcraft or something  ), just meet somewhere off campus and go from there.

definitely enough  if the club gets too big it would be more difficult to easily share experiences
