Marvel and DC Comic Art (Oh and Manga too!)

Does anyone here read the Marvel or DC comics?

Anyone know who Jim Lee is? :content: Kuro-tsuno and I met him at the Dublin Comic Con last month!

I guess I’m asking more artisticly here, but which Marvel or DC artist do you think is brilliant at drawing? I obviously think Jim Lee is fantastic  But also, I’ve seen J. Scott Campbell’s art, and it is just as amazing.

Does anyone else have anyone to suggest? I would love to hear, and check out some more awesome artwork and stories!

Of course, if you are familiar with manga/anime I would love your outlook on the awesome art to story ratio from artists who do that style too! I personally think Naoko Takeuchi’s work is amazing, along with Arina Tanemura and Ai Yazawa.

Jim Lee the X-Men Jim Lee? Awesome! I’m not really into DC and Marvel these days, only have a few of their comics left home (although, like you can’t see by my post in the super hero topic, I still haven’t gotten over Wolverine’s Origin series, one of the most beautiful and brilliant comic stories I’ve read).

So, like I said, I’m no longer that into DC and Marvel, myself, but I’ll take note of any suggestion here and have a look. I’ve heard about Campbell before, and a quick google search makes me think both that I really know him and that’s darn good anyway. But it doesn’t compare to having read a whole story of his.

As for other comic/manga artists in the wild, I’m a huge fan of Neil Gaiman — when I first read is Death comics, I had a recurring dream theme of talking to Death, and his books reshaped my dream character and gave my dreams a depth and power that was quite impressive. He is really good!

Another artist I’m a huge fan of is Hideshi Hino. First work of his I read was Panorama of Hell, I first read it this year, and then I went on the search for other books of him, and could only find them in English. He is amazing. Not like anything one would expect of a mangaka, with his nightmarish themes and his heavy trace. I like him very much.

Of the mainstream mangas, I like the Rose of Versailles and Ruroni Kenshin the best. I’ve also read, these days, Kazuichi Hanawa’s Keimusho no naka (“Doing Time” in the States, I’ve seen it translated as “In Prison” also). Great book, very deep and yet very light hearted, I loved it.

Mhm! Kuro asked him to draw Gambit  But because I wasn’t really into having him draw just a Catwoman, or something like that…I asked him to draw Sailor Moon  He asked for reference (which I had none      ) but he went on google on his phone and checked it out. His drawing was AMAZING! ^^ He was super nice! He had his dinner then though, and was trying to eat as everyone on the line was asking for drawings and stuff so I kinda felt bad  and apologized for that, but he said he had eaten before so…Ah, those sound kewl! I will definetly google search them some more (did a quick search there) and looks kewl!

Manga??

Japanese word for comics. A specific sort of style… And yup, there’s a Star Trek Manga too! Well, OEL but

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Manga

LOL! I haven’t seen the star-trek manga before but I am well-aware what manga is… my bro used to have heaps of it on his computer

I read some Vertigo comics, witch is an imprint of DC.
Neil Gailman writes good stories, and Bill Willingham’s Fables is also grate.
My favorite artist there is Dave McKean, becouse he is IMO really the only artist that has an art that stands out of the crowd.

As for manga; I love it!
My favorites are:
*Rozen Maiden by Peach-Pit.
*Case Closed (Detective Conan) by Gosho Aoyama.
*Blade of the Immortal (Inhabitant of Infinity) by Hiroaki Samura.
*Azumanga Daioh by Kiyohiko Azuma.
*Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma.
*Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind by Hayao Miyazaki.
*Uzumaki by Junji Ito.
*Hellsing by Kouta Hirano.
*Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

 Yup I got a drawing from the Jim Lee Xmen got myself a very nice Gambit love it.

I also have a autographed version of the absolute version of Batman Hush which I’ve enjoyed very much.

I enjoyed an Independent comic called Dracula verses King Arthur I would suggest if you can track it down either by its 3 volumes or its complete form buy it great read.

I LOVE D.C comics! Batman, superman, greenlantern, the flash, aquaman, the list goes on! If you need to know anything about the ablove, just ask  . DC dominates marvel… I like the Neal Adams and Jim Lee versions of batman art

Jim Lee’s Batman art is awesome!

“Mekakushi no Kuni” is a manga I was reading which was a nice sweet little story…

However, Tomoko Taniguchi’s stories I have been re-reading and really love those too
