Matrix and LD, any thoughts?

Matrix is one of my favorite movies of all time. recently getting into LD, i realized matrix is a big metaphore to LD. here is what i found…

  1. Jon anderson’s reality, where he is a cubicle worker, is like a normal dream, where he has no control.
  2. The resistance fighters find him, and ‘unplug him’. he goes through the tests, and gains lucidity,
  3. the reality in the movie is like the real world, in this world, he is normal
  4. when he gains lucidity, he is plugged in, like WILD sort of, and enters his dream
  5. he now has absolute control over almost everything

there are more but having not seen the movie in a year, i cant remember. as you can see, i have also named myself after the white rabbit

Er… Thomas Anderson.

But it’s different because if you die in the Matrix, you die IRL too.

yea, thats the only deep difference i can note. it would be kinda stupid if you killed pople and they just came back agian. but you must admit the movie shares a lot with LD

The Fact that trinity and morpheus is there can be seen as a mirror to Shared Dreaming also.

man im obsessed with the matrix… i think my avatar and signature should give that away! definately my fav. movie of all time… i don’t think any other movie will ever top it the concept is just too brilliant, and the characters & special fx were incredible.

Although a lot of things in the movie/s relate to dreaming and lucid dreaming, i think it relates to waking life a lot more. There are a lot of video’s around telling us how our sensory input i.e. eye’s, ears, etc… are all limited in what they can perceive. They are programmed to perceive things in a certain way… what i think is a keyboard could actually be something entirely different. Science actually proves this to be true, and a lot more scientists these days are leaning into the area of quantum physics and starting to open their minds to the possibility that there is more to it than just physicality and what we perceive. Watch this vid here and you’ll know what i mean: perceivingreality.com (really interesting short vid btw)

hmm that reminds me… did you see that article recently about how “scientists were able to replicate the same experience that OBE’ers have” …where they see themselves outside their body? they say they will be able to apply it to gaming soon, it doesn’t require drugs i think just a special headgear thing… so i’ll see you in the matrix real soon!

There is an internet multiplayer matrix game called “The Matrix Online” which is pretty popular, and apparently a lot of fun… but i can’t get my hands on it
I think i’ll just wait for the real version of the matrix to come out

Anyway… im going to lurk around some other threads for a while. Click here if you’d like to read some of my matrix dreams:

I just saw this thread, and thought I’d mention my latest lucid dream. I had it about a week ago. I was on the second story of this mall with my friend, and I looked down to the first floor, and saw those 2 people from the 2nd matrix that were like ghosts, and they shot at me, and i realized I was dreaming, so I dove over the railing towards them, and everything was going super slow motion, and I was dodging the bullets as I was falling and shooting back at them. When I hit the floor, they disappeared, and I went about doing other things. Was fun!

You know, Morpheus is the Greek God of dreams.

And then there’s that weird mirror in the first movie…
