Messed up sleep cycle? or what?

so this is my first post here.

for the past couple months, i have been trying to lucid dream. i have been keeping a dream journal and have tried different techniques such as WILD and MILD. i also try to do consistent reality checks throughout my day. for a while, all my dreams got fairly vivid and i could remember quite a bit about them in the morning. then for a couple weeks, my dreams seemed very hazy or i couldnt remember them at all. and just starting about a week ago something very weird has been happening.
i go to sleep every night about the same time (9:30- 10:00) and i will wake up only an hour later and i will wake up several times during the night. but not only that but i will wake up almost violently… also, in my dream, i realize that i will wake up soon. such as i will tell a DC that i am going to wake up in a few minutes. Now my dreams are extremely vivid and they are all very long. They are the longest and most vivid dreams i have ever had in my life actually. so what im wondering is, why is this happening? and is there someway i could become lucid and prevent my waking up from my dream?

thanks everyone for your help

Moved from General Lucidness. :dragon:

Wow, the whole LD thing is getting serious for you ^^ congratulations for the effort
My guess would be, you somehow stated your will to wake up after every dream to remember them (autosuggestion, perhaps), and yor SC is just following tour orders, and is quite good at doing it, at that ;D
Plus, many people report being quite more energetic after a routine of awakenings during the night, mainly because they get to see how many 8 hours of sleep really are, and sleep quality is mainly influenced by what you think of your sleep.
Next thing, long and vivid dreams are the main road for good LD’s (personally, I’d see this as quite a blessing), so keep going and enjoy the ride! (while using some techs )

I agree with Tosxychor, the vivid dreams are really good  and if you’re starting to talk about dreams in them you’re getting closer! You’re aware, at some level, that you are dreaming. It’s only a little step to actually get lucid. So don’t worry and keep practicing and the lucid dreams will come soon enough.

and about the weeks with hazy dreams, that also happens. Even when you’re completely dedicated you can go up and down. Many things can influence. Pressure at school or at a job, for example, can make you slightly less focussed on LD’ing and that might be enough.

Just remember to take it lightly, it’s supposed to be fun and not frustrating. Enjoy your long vivid dreams and you’ll get lucid in one when you less expect it!

Oh, and welcome

When I try to do WILD, it’s pretty common for me to fail, but to wake up later on in the night, just as you. I think it may be our SC trying to induce WBTB somehow. At least, it rings a bell for me.

You’re not alone = )

And as the folks’ve said here: you’re getting good at this, congrats!

thanks everyone who posted! i really hope this is another step toward lucidity. hopefully i can realize more dream signs. cause in all of these dreams there were plenttttty of dream signs lol

so last night i had another crazy long dream that was really vivid and weird. but unlike in my other dreams, i didnt tell anyone i was going to wake up, i just did when one dream ended. i tried telling myself, before i went to sleep, that i would reality check in my dream but i didnt do it unfortunately. hopefully tonight i can achieve what i have been trying to do for weeks now.
