My "Dream Clipboard" MILD???

Last night I woke up at 3:30 a.m. after a dream. I tried doing a typical MILD by telling myself, “I will have a lucid dream” but this tends to keep me awake for some reason. Then I attempted to do WILD and as usually couldn’t manage it. So I finally just decided to try to fall back to sleep.

I started to have some HI and I began to visualize a clipboard (I didn’t intentionally do this). I was holding it in my left hand and I could see it very clearly. It was an old clipboard, brown and the clip was worn and slightly rusty. It had a single piece of white paper on it. I visualize a black magic marker in my right hand. I wrote “DREAMING?” & under that “RC” on the paper. I then came back to full consciousness. After that I told myself, “Don’t forget your clipboard.” I told myself this several times and found it easier. This wasn’t keeping me awake. It was just like trying to remember to bring something to work in the morning. Just as I felt myself dozing I reminded “Don’t forget your clipboard.” and it didn’t bring me back to consciousness.

I had 2 dreams after doing this. (both in my dream journal) the first I knew that I was forgetting something but didn’t become lucid. The second I remembered my clipboard and ended up lucid, but woke up quickly.

Has anyone else done something like this??

Funny and good technique ! :cool_laugh:
It’s a mix between VILD, MILD and the technique where you find an object in your dreams.

  • VILD : you’re visualizing the clipboard.
  • MILD : you use prospective memory in order to remember your clipboard.
  • and of course, you search your clipboard in a dream…

I prefer this technique than MILD, because it’s easier do think “Don’t forget your clipboard” than “In my next dream, I will remember to become aware that I am dreaming”. :content:

May I propose an enhancement to your technique ? In hypnosis, it’s said to be more effective not to use negative sentences. So you could say “Remember your clipboard !” instead of “Don’t forget your clipboard.”

That is a great suggestion Basilus West. I will try it tonight.
