Anyways. I’ve been trying to lucid dream for months now. Problem is I’m a senior in high school and get around 5 hours of sleep at most sunday-friday. So If I do dream I can only really try 2 times a week.
Anyways. I HAVE had very short like 10min dreams on weekdays that are COMPLETELY random. So it’s hard to pick out recurring themes in my dreams because there are only maybe a few.
I also know about the clock and book thing but I’ve yet to see anything written or a clock in any of my dreams.
I can remember them really well and don’t even need to write em down right away, I can remember and write it down like 2 days later.
This is as far as I’ve gotten.
In other words, In these past months I haven’t made any progress since like a week after I’ve first started trying to LD.
What should I do?
Should I just give up and wait till summer when I can actually SLEEP 7 days a week or what? x/
Take a look at your schedule and see if you can make some extra time for Lucid Dreaming, like of re arrange things so you’ll sleep longer. This’ll also get you more rested, always a good thing.
Also, although you may think you don’t need to write your dreams down right away, you do. Trust me. Not only will you probably start remembering more dreams as you write them in your journal, but it will also strengthen your resolve to get better at Lucid Dreaming, because you’ll be applying a little extra effort to write them down asap, and probably getting better results from this extra effort.
If neither of these work then maybe you should leave Lucid Dreaming till your done high school and are a bit more rested.
Have you tried doing RC during the day? If not, I would suggest giving that a try. Also continue to keep your dream journal. In time you will definitely see some pattern to your dreams. Some small things you can pick out as a dream sign. It may not even be a the content of the dream but a though or feeling.
I also suggest getting more sleep. I know everyone who is in school always says they don’t have time. But look at you schedule and see if you cant squeeze in an extra hour or two. You should still be able to get some lucid dreams out of 5 hours sleep but if, you could extend that time to 6-7 hours it would increase your chances.
When I first starting keeping my DJ I didn’t think I had a particular pattern of dreamsigns either but I’ve come to the conclusion that “context” is my biggest dreamsign…this may be yours too. No one thing is odd in my dreams most of the time, but my dreams in general are odd, the oddness of my dreams themselves are my dreamsign, although my estranged sister’s appearance in my dreams should be a great dreamsign, as in she wouldn’t appear IRL so I should know I’m dreaming when I see her as a DC. Now if I could just get lucid again (I’ve only been lucid once after 3.5 months of trying)…
I’m stuck in highschool too but what I usually do is wake up around 7:30-45, eat, go back to bed for 20 minutes or so. Usually I have really intense (but for some reason rarely lucid) dreams in this period. You might give that a try.
Trying to learn LD’ing without sleep is like trying to learn surfing in the desert. If you really can’t make some extra time for lucid dreaming (Siiw used to dream only two nights in the week, with good results), you should wait for a best period; otherwise you’ll discourage unnecessarily.
thanks everyone!
I’m on spring break now and with time to sleep I actually think I did lucid dream finally! Got 14 hours of sleep last night and a buncha dreams. =D
I was in one dream where I was in the school bathroom and didn’t really have a revelation or anything. I just tried to walk through the mirror for no reason but couldn’t, so then I tried to walk through a wall and could! Then realized I was dreaming.
That’s pretty much about it. Tha night before I did take some of you guys’s advice and put my dream journal right next to my bed to write it down right away and I stared in a mirror telling myself I was gonna dream and reciting the “I will dream and realize I’m dreaming” thing and it worked!
Thanks everyone!
