My first post ! some noob easy questions !

Hi ! i’m new to this forum and i’m SUPER excited[/list] to do lucid dreams !
by the way sorry for my bad english, i’m french and they closed the french forums =/

anyway, i kinda remember one dream every two or three nights, but i’ll focus on my DJ and make it REALLY FULL, i heard it’s the best way.

i kinda have a question doh… what is a pre lucid dream ?

also, how to do the RC ? i mean, how to tell myself in my dreams ‘’ hmm lets make a reality check here…’’

correct me if I am wrong : Is it like as your DJ gets bigger, you’ll see what’s real and not in your dreans, and when you see something odd, you will be in a pre-lucid state and make an RC ? am I right or completely off the road ?

Having a dream journal helps, but, I think the main thing of RC is that you do it while you are awake, and it becomes a reflex, so that you don’t even have to think about it to do one in your dream.

A prelucid dream is, basically, a dream in which you have the potential to become lucid. A classic example of this involves an encounter with a four-eyed lady.
If you see a four-eyed lady in a dream, you can respond in many ways. You might ignore her, or you might be amazed and become lucid. A reaction that approaches amazement–but does not get you lucid–indicates prelucidity.

The RCing, as already stated, comes with habit. Every night you see odd things in your dreams, yet you do not respond like you normally do. In real life, if you become more sensitive to odd behavior, you also become more sensitive in your dreams. Just do a RC whenever the time is appropriate, and you will someday see results.

Finally, about your final question: Yes, you’re right. The DJ helps you spot patterns in your dreams -> You notice these patterns while dreaming -> You get lucid.

i downloaded a brilliant little timer called “cool timer” just google it,

its free and you can set a timer to repeat whenever you want (i set mine for every 15 mins) plus you can have some text pop up on your screen (i made mine say “REALITY CHECK NOW !”)

this was a godsend for me to remember to do RC`s

Though, if you rely on that and don’t have it in your dream, it might actually inhibit you from remembering to do RCs.

Remember: Quality > Quantity.

There are many tutorials here on how do a RC, but I will can go over a few tips for you.

Ask yourself where you are and what you are doing. Look around at your environment, see how detailed everything is. Ask your self, “Am I dreaming?” Then do your RC (holding your nose, etc). Then tell yourself that you are or aren’t dreaming depending on your result. Don’t be scared to take your time. And after a while of doing this it should become a habbit, wich will then carry over to your dreams.

Also when you wake up, stay still and close your eyes. Try to recall your dream. Ask yourself why you didn’t become lucid. Then imagine yourself in that dream you just recalled, imagine doing a RC at some point durring that dream.

You can do 100 RCs in one day, but if they don’t mean anything then they are almost pointless.

Also look around for some topics about “lucid living” to get a better understanding.

i agree with you, i don’t think people want to rely on this to turn up in their dreams, but i did find this helpful in getting me in the habit of doing RC`s

i personally dont use this as a RC, i just use it to remind myself to do an RC. its the RC itself you want to take notice of

in my first LD this timer was nowhere to be seen, but i do think that if i had not have been doing RC`s as much as i had been doing (which was very few before the timer, because i kept on forgetting to do them)i don’t think i would have had it in my concious as much in my dream.

it is your concious that you really want to rely on, if you did every technique available but took no notice ( e.g. doing them blindly) i think this would be hard to bring them to your dreams.

I think it’s gonna be slightly harder for me because i never remembered a single dream who had something strange in it, Only me talking to people at school or at home =/ anyway, thanks for your replies ! In my first night, I remembered two dreams ! :smile:

Also, I had habbits all my life but i don’t remember myself doing them in dreams… would auto-suggesting me to make RCs while dreaming help ?

The habit you want doing RC to yield isn’t so much the RC itself (like, holding your nose every so often), but, the habit of thinking about whether you’re in a dream. Unless you already notice something is amiss in your dream before doing the RC, the RC result will probably not really come across to your conscious mind, it will just be another strange thing that seems normal. You want to have the habit of thinking about your surroundings, doing RCs as a follow up.

i hadn’t remembered any dreams for a very log time before i started learning LD`s, then suddenly my dream recall seemed to switch on.

i think the more aware you become of your dreams the more you may start seeing thing that will stand out

maybe the reason you haven’t noticed doing habitual thing in your sleep is because you were not looking for them in the first place, you probably do more habitual things in your dreams than you realise. e.g being at school talking to your friends is not exactly a habit, but it is something you do allot
my first LD had nothing to do with my habits (well if you don’t count going to the toilet, which again is something we all do daily) it was triggered by seeing my reflection in a mirror looking in a different direction. like king kandy says, if you don’t see something strange in the first place then you wouldn’t realise to do an RC in the first place

my first LD took me about three weeks to do. it could take you longer but it could also happen allot quicker than that, whatever you do, don’t loose hope, it WILL happen
