Yep, I tried LDing for the first time tonight. I used a method where I laid on my back with my arms on my sides and eyes closed. I didn’t move a single part of my body in maybe 20 mins. Then I started to hear low voices talking and a strange sound like an x-ray machine at a hospital makes. I felt like my body became very heavy and I tried to open my eyes. My lamp suddely started to flash. I looked very fast around in the rest of the room.I didn’t see anything else. I tried to close my eyes again then, but after some time I was too scared, and I found myself sitting in my bed. I did several RC’s, but started to understand it had to be reality. I got on my computer, and while chatting I suddenly started seeing stripes flashing all over the screen. They disappeard soon however. I know I have to bear with sleep paralyziz if I’m gonna use this method, but it seems I’m just all too scared. So I don’t know how to handle it.
Wow you had visions in real life? Creepy… was the lamp definatly flashing on and off, or did it seem like your brain could be projecting it on to your view? Maybe you were close to a dream and shocking out of it confused your mind or something… that sounds crazy!! Try using WBTB (set an alarm for roughly 5/6 hours into sleep) and when you wake up, use mantra’s like “I Will realise i am dreaming”. WILD isn’t the only way, it hasn’t worked for me the 5 times I tried it lol
I’ve been tempted to WILD before but I don’t think I could handle it either. The thought of watching something atop my chest laughing, or anything really scares the hell outta me. But it is all in your head right? So shouldn’t you be able to just close your eyes and tell it to go away? This is just speculative, but it seems logical to me. I think I may even have done it during my most recent (unintended) encounter with sleep paralysis. Then again I’ve never heard voices or any of the sort, which would really mess with my nerves.
I’ve probably been of no help at all, hopefully a more senior member of the board will come by with some good tips on dealing with fear and all that. Anyways, good luck with it.
Well, I’ve read that in a sleep paralyziz, hallucinations and wierd noises do appear. However I’m really NOT good handling with those, even if I know it’s only in my head. So that’s my problem. Now I’m all to scared to try again. Especially because I saw those stripes flashing all over the screen when I knew I was awake.
Thanks
Hello.
Yes, I know it may make you scared even tho you know it’s only in your head.
The truth is:
The more scared of it you are, the scarier the SP will be.
So if you have really scary expectations, that’s what going to happen.
There’s not much more to tell actually…just: I hope you get through it and achieve lucidity
