My quest for lucidity

I have had an 8 second lucid dream, but that is it. I want to explore more, but I never seem to have them. I think of it, but I just have regular dreams. I want to become consious whilst in a dream to enjoy it to the fullest. Any suggestions on acheiving this goal, because I have tried alot, and did not get far. I almost went lucid a couple other times. I’ll share those. I was in my kitchen looking at myself and myself said to me “you are lucid dreaming”. I then appeared on my porch and tried to fly, but it didn’t work. The second time I was laying on the tar, and something told me I was dreaming, and everything got all shakey. Weird. So I just want to have at least one for the rest of '06.

Edit: Just now noticed the Quest for Lucidity section. Sorry. My mistake. This can be redirected.

Hi Mguy, welcome to the forum!

Your question may stay here, it’s not a problem and on the contrary it may interest beginners. Your first results are encouraging. It seems that your problem is that you can’t have the full realisation of you knowing you’re dreaming, although you get big clues.

IMO, you should practice RC’s. So that, when you’re doubting about your own state in a dream, you perform a RC and you’ve more chances to realize you’re dreaming. You can also plan an action to do in a LD (it’ll give the same results than RC’s) and as soon as you question reality in a dream, you try to do this.

I have the feeling that you are very close to LD’ing. You have to choose a prolonging technique too, so that you can prolong your LD’s.

I always do reality checks when I think of it. Usually for me it is putting my finger through my hand. Never happens in Dreams though, but in time i’ll improve hopefully.

Try the hold-the-nose RC, it always works!! :content:
