My story (does anyone know why this has happened to me)

Hi all, ive been away but i’m back to ask you guys if you got any info on what this might be, I think it was some kind of panic attack, but i hope not.

Basically, i was in a dock on a nearby island with some friends and family. It was 12 a clock or something, anyway it was pretty dark and I was tired. So we went on to the wooden dock. The air was really cold and the moon was full. The moment we stepped on the dock and I looked at the moon, Ijust began to be filled by pure fear… just fear without any real source, like a kind of terror. I felt like shivernig or tingling or something, basically I felt afraid. I told my parents but they like said it’s motion sickness because the dock was floating, but it didn’t go away, and it persisted on the boat back home. It only seemed to go away when I turned on my TV and tucked myself into bed (kind of grouding myself to reality or something and realizing there’s nothing to be afraid of).

This was like three years ago or something. Has anyone else ever been filled with unexplicable fear? it also happened again like a few days ago while I was playing guitar, it even made me stop playing for a couple of seconds until it passed. Just a feeling of fear.

I’m think i’m perfectly sane, but this is just weird.

This wikipedia article pretty much describes it perfectly. like the feeling of intense doom…

You seem to have answered your own question. But others may have similar experiences to share.

If you have it again—and sorry to say it, but, unless it was a bad trip, hypoglicemia (lack of sugar) or you’re very lucky—chances are you will have it again—look for medical help. And no, it doesn’t mean you’re going insane, panic syndrome might come due to intense stress, anxiety or chemical imbalances (among other stuff). You should just check up if it happens again, that’s all.

Yes, as soon as I read it I thought: Panic Attack. Anyone can have them according to what I’ve read on the subject, so it doesn’t matter if you haven’t had one before. As Bruno said, speak to your doctor about it if it happens again.

Damn that sucks. It has only really happened twice in my life and the second one wasn’t nearly as intense as the first one.

Anyway, if i know what it is, how hard can it be to control if it happens again. There’s no realy damage being done, right?

Also, what is hypoglicemia supposed to feel like? I fainted once from it but i don’t remember any similar effects.

well actually it’s the opposite of hyperglycemia which actually is sugar-desease(or does it have a different name)

with hyperclycemia you need to inject insulin to decrease the level of sugar in your blood

hypoglycemia means that you’r allways hungry(not unstillable hunger but your blood-sugar level is allways too low) if you keep eating with hypoglycemia it eventually turns into hypERglycemia because the liver stops producing insulin
