My Theory on Bettering yourself through LD

I actually tranfered here from another LD website as i found i like this one more,So here is a post i made on another site at the start of 2008.I hope you can share your opinions and Maybe try it out for yourself:)

Hey there,

I’ve been looking through the forums the past few days and I have seen a few posts in reguards to “Can you get good at things by practising in a lucid dream?” and I thought id post my opinions to see what people believe, To demonstrate I will Give an example, I hope this is understandable…

Ok…We all know that when we watch a movie enough times or listen to music enough, after a while you memorize it ,well what about if you see a person doing gymnastics or someone dancing?

If you watch it enough you’ll remember it and if your laying awake at night you can probly see it in your mind pretty well…But what if you then tryd to imitate the same dance step you just saw?..Chances are that it won’t be perfect…so why is this I thought as I lay awake one night. And here is what i concluded…

I believe that during the day whatever we see is stored in our sub-concious and when we witness something such as a dance move the same thing happens we can remember it,Take Michael Jackson for example say he does the moonwalk most of you have probly seen him preform it,and as you read this you can probly see a mental image of Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk…This is what i found interesting…if you can see it in your mind that means your sub-concious knows about it…the reason you may not be able to do it is because you brain and body are unable to easily decode what it sees to co-ordinate your body enough to do the move successfully,But what if this were to happen…

You have a Lucid Dream and you are alone on stage with michael jackson, now possibly un-beknowen to you is that your sub-concious knows how the moonwalk is preformed,it learnt it while you watched it on t.v. only you didnt know.

now in Lucid Dreaming your sub-concoius can take images or patterns or information you have stored to use in the dream so needless to say if michael jackson were to preform the moonwalk for you in a lucid Dream then he will preform it as it was when you saw it on t.v. in your waking life.

you sub-concious knows every little bit of footwork ect involved in this so theoretically if you kindly ask michael in you lucid Dream to show you step by step how the moonwalk is done, and because you already know in sub-concious then your dream should be able to take the infomation from your sub-concious to allow michael to show you slowly…

but when you master this in your dream then would’nt you sub-concious store this in memory as it knowing what body co-ordination is used an therefore be able to access it from you memory in the waking world?

it’s up to you to decide but that’s my theory,i hav’nt put it into practise yet as i havnt got passed SP. But let me know what you think, it does’nt have to be for just dancing but also for sports, speeches, yoga, golf whatever your into,

once again this is not solid infomation mearly a possibility.
Hope it wasn’t to hard to understand.

Since this post in 2008 i have had success with this, another variation was that michael jackson actually put his hand on my sholder and closed his eyes and my feet moved automatically,it was a bizzare feeling

This sounds really cool!

I haven’t tried practicing a skill in a LD yet. I mean, I’ve played guitar, but never actually tried to learn anything new. I’ll see if I can try it in a LD soon.

I have thought about this theory as well.
I think its possible as long as enough information is stored in your memory somewhere, and as long as you are able to access it in a lucid dream.
In my first lucid dream, I had difficulties having access to be open to that subconcious ability of reaching whatever memory. In my dream, I was like when I am awake, just as forgetfull. So that could be a problem I think? I do not know if more experienced lucid dreamers can do this better.
I was for example not able to visualize a friends face, while I know this friend very well. In a normal dream it would simply have been there, right from the, lets say, memory bank and fetched by my subconcious.
But in the LD I could not.
Just like in real life, in real life I can also sometimes have trouble picturing a friends face in my mind for some reason. Odd but true.

So that would be a problem for at the least me  and maybe more people.

In a dream the body is not becoming more flexible or more able to make certain moves. In a dream you can improve mind skills, understanding the moves by doing them (which is important of course). But the motor skills come through practice with the real body I think.

But I do think that it probably helps  its simply creating more experience in Michael Jackson dancing.
Or whatever thing that a person is learning.

I am going to try this too  not sure yet though what I am going to pick as new skill to learn. Maybe I can find that out in a LD or ND as well.
