need some help...

Last night I had 2 LDs, both I initated with RC. Before I had LD naturally.
Anyway, in the first LD, I did the RC with my eye then I told myself calmly, “this is a dream”. Then everything fades away. I try to rub my palm to stablize the dream, but it didn’t work. Then I woke up.

In my second LD last night, I did a RC with a eye and I again told myself calmly, “this is a dream”. then as everything was fading away, I was able to stablize the dream with rubbing my palm. I try to get up from the bed, but I feel too heavy and feel that I couldn’t get up. After a few tries of getting up, I got up halfway, then I suddenly woke up.

Any advice?

You need more control over your dreams. This means that you need to learn how to remain in focus and stay in command of the image  basically refine the clarity of your dreams by doing excersises (i cant remember what they are called)

oh yeh that was it!
when you think you are losing control of your dream spin around in circles, or shout or demand to increase clarity. Somehow these help in maintaining lucidity

Dream Oracle, if you need to say something else and the day hasn’t passed, please use the ‘edit’ button at the top of your post.

Don’t worry, pow, the beginning of the LDs were probably low and you didn’t have much control yet. Make sure when you do the commands, you’re 100% sure they’ll work. Any doubt will mess it up, so try to believe it’ll happen.

pow155, as you noticed it, you have been fooled by a false awakening. Next time your dream fades and you are convinced you have woken up, perform a RC!

From the sound of it, I don’t think he had a FA. What I think was more likely was that he probably aroused his mind too much that he was actually awake with the final scenes of his dream fading along with the sleep paralysis. That could explain why he felt too heavy to move.

I also had many experiences where I forced myself to move in a certain way too hard and really moved myself IRL and wake up.

There is I think only one solution to this problem. Practice. After a few more times, I think would be enough to prevent premature awakening.

Telling yourself, “I will not wake up so soon” when you become lucid might also help.

just continue with your techs, at the beginning everybody is afraid and wakes up, after some time it should stay alive

Both my first LDs I was at my bed, I bet that can happen with others too. I was at another position in bed (sitting) while I slept laying down.

I had the same problem  My eyes closed by themselves, but from now on I’m going to try to rub my hands or see thru my eyelids

Hello everyone!

Are you supposed to keep your eyes open?

Anecdote: I was reading random things on wikipedia, as you do, when I stumbled on a very interesting article titled ‘Lucid Dreaming’. I read it, naturally, and by then end of it I basically felt numb, how could such a thing be true? As it was wikipedia I devoured every word, and believed every word. I read on the subject on other sites, and when the time finally came for me to go to bed-this happened. I lay on my bed staring into space and thinking about what I just read, when everything gradually faded away into black, I was shocked but let it happen. I started, bringing back a bit of the world, but relaxed again quickly losing vision. My hands where on my chest, which felt like it was rising uncontrolably, I was really uneasy now, my body started to vibrate, I was scared, my heart was racing. I lay there for maybe 1 minute, vibrating, but finally returned to normal.

I was exhilirated, the whole time I had my eyes open but not seeing, I thought of nothing but just felt what was happening to me.

Now two days later I’m on this forum, and eager to learn. I’ve started by thinking about normal dreams, as I never remember them (in fact I was one of those people who thought they don’t have dreams) I remember bits and pieces of the dreams I’ve had the last two nights, which is progress. I tried to go lucid too, but to no avail. I can nearly repeat what happened the first night but it gets me nowhere, and I know that somethings only come with time and patience (which I have a lot of).

Tonight I will try the Looking-at-your-hands RC, and maybe some others too. I tried waking up 5-6 hours after sleep but I don’t have a good alarm clock for that, maybe will try tea before I sleep…

Well anyway, I hope to be a contributor to this forum very soon Thanks in advance for any help I know you forumites will offer me!

Hi there,

This is exactly what happened to me! The first part, about fading to black, vibrating, heart racing!! But i didnt manage to quite make it in. Thats Using the WILD technique.

Maybe getting to excited or just not relaxing enough, I have only had 2 LD and they were both during the day, two days in a row last week, i find i dream more (or remember them easier) napping during the day.

Good luck on ur LDing.

Hey Ozmo

:welcome: I hope you enjoy the forum  It’s a pretty nice place filled with friendly people.

I think you should get your recall better, so you can remember your LDs when you start having them. Try starting a Dream Journal in the Dream Diary section  Also, look around and read some of them, they are pretty nice.

About your experience, I’m not too sure what that was. I mean, it looks like WILD feelings, but I wonder about your open eyes. I hope another member can help you with that.

Hi Ozmo!

Of course, you have you close your eyes, just like when you normally fall asleep. What you felt is rather encouraging. It seems you’re gifted for WILD. Anyway, you have better to enhance your dream recall especially if you want to practice DILD methods too.

thanks for the help. I guess I need more experiences. I was trying to use WILD techique. I have a question about WILD: Are you suppose to count to 100 while imagining yourself walking down the stair? Am I doing this WILD technique correctly?

Sparx :content:: My heart was not racing, I was suprisingly calm. I stay calm by telling myself:
“Ok this is a dream, so what, Its not like I have never been here before.”

Ok, Just a while ago while I was taking a nap, I become partly LD. I remember in my dream, everything is pretty fuzzy and my eye is half closed, so I say it to myself, ok I’m dreaming. Then everything became clear, but my eyes is still partly closed. I rub my palm to stablize the dream. Then I walked around a bit, and try to open my eyes fully, but found out I couldn’t. I forced my eyes open, then I woke up with my eyes open.

I guess it’s safe to say that you shouldn’t try and open your eyes

sorry wolf  i wont do that again.
