Need some thoughts on what i'm doing wrong

Hello everyone

I’ve read tons of info everywhere, but i’d like some feedback on my particular situation… I’ve had lucid dreams a couple of times, by doing reality checks (i don’t remember to do it though, and haven’t for some time)…
I really want to try the WILD method, and i’ve tried about 10 times… Always ending up falling asleep, even though i don’t usually sleep on my back…
I relax, count my breaths “1, i’m dreaming” etc… I’ve tried every way and at every time of day… The first 5 times or so, i would get too ecxited when i felt the “pressure” on my body, and go completely awake again… One time, i managed to stay relaxed and experienced some sounds/voices and different sort of visions of weird things… Then i got too excited again, thinking “omg i think i’m almost there”… So my problem is, either i relax too much and fall asleep, or i get too excited and go fully alert…
How do i find the fine line between the two? And how much am i allowed to ‘think’… Does it have to be something tiresome like counting, or can i just think of what i like?

Well, quite frankly, my experiences are quite similar to yours. I am by far not a pro at Lucid Dreaming (5 in the last year), but four of them did come from WILD. The trick that works for me is not to wait for it, but to simply make your mind up on staying aware as long as it takes (see how far you can count) and then just relax and pretend you’re drifting off to sleep.

Sometimes, even just lying to myself by actually saying out loud in a frustrated voice, “Oh forget this I’m going to sleep,” works wonders.

As far as excitement goes, I just imagine it as a swell out at sea, as long as I keep it from “cresting and breaking”, I’m fine. The excitement is going to grow with each new minute, so just ride it. Let the feelings wash over you and above all keep trying. If nothing else, eventually your stubornness and frustration( :grrr: ) will be enough to get you lucid.

Best of Luck, there’s really nothing else like WILD.

You have a very interesting situation. Ok I don’t think it’s necessary but I will say that you should do WILD after at least 3 hours of sleep.

Now on the problem. I think the best way to modulate your feelings in SP state and in a dream is meditation. I’m not saying that’s the only and the best way but sure it’s the good way. Only 5 minutes a day and it should help.

I have one advice that’s working for me. Maybe it will help you maybe not. So when you feel very excited that can be tricky if you don’t calm yourself, but when you are in the situation where you feel pressure maybe there will be some vibrations too there is one simple thing you can do and helpfully you will end in a lucid dream: [I said helpfully because I don’t know if it will work for you…]

Let yourself fall asleep.

It may sound easy but the thing is you need to know very good in which state of SP you are. By that I mean if you are in that state with pressure and vibrations very much awake or if you are in that state almost asleep. I would suggest trying that when you are in that state almost asleep, then this could work, but you need to be like: “ok, I feel pressure and vibrations I’m close and now I will fall asleep.” It has to be a conscious decision. Also you need to fall asleep almost the next second not like I will fall asleep in next 10 minutes because all that conscious will be much less intense…

So how to achieve this state with almost falling asleep?! You need to get the feeling of your average attempt of WILD. If you know that attempt lasts 20 minutes approximately and then you start to fell pressure and vibration state then you will know that the last 10 minutes you need to easily start to falling asleep. And when you reach those approximately 20 minutes this state should be very close and you can wait few more moments when you start to feel it and then you should already be asleep but conscious!

It may seem tricky but it’s not hard at all!
