Hi all,
like the topic says I NEVER seem to rc in dreams…does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy this? Do I just need to do more, or is there anything else that can help?

If you aren’t already, try to find things that happen often in both your dreams and in RL, and perform an RC whenever that common occurrence takes place. Hopefully it will become habitual and you’ll be able to perform it in your dream.
Reality checks didn’t work for me. Instead of doing normal RC, I suggest you to only remember you that you are lucid and awake (or not). Me, what I say, it’s get lucid, stay lucid. It work perfectly for me and with that, I got 2 lucid dream. I don’t know if it will work for you, but try it!
I suggest you to read the LL topic. (https://ld4all.com/archive0205/viewtopic.php?t=1085)
Sorry if it is not clear…
Knowing when to do a RC is a puzzle I havent fully solved yet either, but I have been succussful a couple of dozen times. It would be helpfull if you first describe when you do your RC’s in WL, so we can check if do something wrong.
I do a couple every morning when I wake up to check for FA’s then throughout the day, (doing a couple at a time) like looking at fingers then trying to breathe through the nose. I also do them when I see things that are common in my dreams but my dream signs don’t seem to be very consistent so that can be tricky…
Most people i know who successfully use RCs, do a lot of them during the day (at least 60). Are you sure you are doing enough?
However RCs don’t work for everyone. I could never remember to do them that many times, and they never transfered into my dreams. However i have found a better way, but it doesn’t always work. I was sleeping in an unusual place, and i kept waking up (5 times a night) and i RCed every time i woke up. And i eventually started RCing in the dream too. That worked fine for two nights. Try it. Although it is hard to wake up so many times. I must admit that back in my comfortable home bed, i’m unable to wake up so many times anymore.me i woke up. And i eventually started RCing in the dream too. That worked fine for two nights. Try it. Although it is hard to wake up so many times. Well I definitely need to up my amount of RC’s, I’m doing nowhere near 60, I’ll also give your suggestion a go, see if it helps! Thanks
If you are successful with my proposed technique, please write me and tell me your results. I would like to use and develop it, so i’m interested in how it works for you too. Maybe you will help me make it better reply here or pm please, if you get any nice results! And good luck
I have to remind you that some people take long to get the habit of RCing.
Also, as slightly reminded by avalinah, keeping an habit for too long also makes you less aware about that.
And, also, it’s important to do RC’s correctly, otherwise you might RC in your dreams with no lucidity gain.
I always want to do this (like when I am walking on a stairway)
But I even forget to do it at Those moments!
I mean, I can’t make the stairs to make me think like: Do a RC! What can I do about this?
Tggtt, what do you mean by “to do them correctly”?
also i believe what Tggtt wanted to say, but didn’t elaborate much, was that if you try the same technique for too long your mind might get used to it and not react so well anymore. that’s exactly what happened to me with the wake-up-RC technique
To what Tggtt said, I think he’s also meaning it’s importance to keep the awareness of what the RC means in your head. Every time you do one it is important to actually wonder whether you are dreaming or not. Just doing the action can lead to failed or ignored RC’s in dreams.
As has been mentioned, getting in the habit of doing RC’s (or anything really) takes time. I’ve heard quite a few variations of how long it takes to form a habit; from 21 days to 66 days to 3 months. I’m sure it varies among individuals as well .
If you do RC’s on a regular basis for a long enough period of time, the act of doing them will eventually become engrained as a normal part of your activity and show up in your dreams. Doing them in specific situations (such as when you encounter a DS) may help even more with actually triggering lucidity. As others have mentioned, doing them “correctly” so that you actually question reality helps in that respect as well.
