No lucid dreams

Greetings ladies and gentlemen,
As the title would sugest, I’m unable to achieve a lucid dream state.
I have discovered the “science” of lucid dreaming a few years ago and had moderate success at first, but during the last two years(!) I have been unable to even get a single, even remotely lucid dream even though I did multiple and thorough reality checks almost every single day. Repeating a mantra right before going to sleep does not seem to work either.
Right now I have just given up, seeing that all the effort does not get me anywhere.

I’d be glad for any piece of advice

Did you experience some lucid moments/lucid dreams when you had moderate success?

“The mantra before sleeping doesn’t work” - Are you doing this on first going to bed or AFTER waking up in the night. It is much more likely to work later in the sleep cycle.

Finally - are you getting enough sleep?

Most of us have lots of LDs and RDs that we lose during Oneirolysis stage before waking up.
So you cannot be certain.
Not to mention the high grade LDs that consist of blinding light with no images at all!
If you recall many dreams per night and no LD at all, then you may be right.
But still this is relative, and in no way certain,
Carry on and read often your dream journal before sleeping.
This way you open wide the path of dreams to come.

@moogle I can remember a total of five (more or less) lucid dreams, after that only lucid moments that lasted mere seconds. Am I getting enough sleep? Probably not. I have eight hours of sleep in theory, but lose 30min to 1 hours since I’m never really tired in the evening, and I also tend to wake up at times.

@Promitheus sadly my “dream quality” has been decreasing as well, there are occasions where literally all I can remember is “someone, somewhere”.

Against all odds the mantra thingie actually worked last night…in the most twisted way you can imagine, but still…
Thanks for the answers, and a good night to you gentlemen

You need to have a specific plan. Can’t be just a generic desire to “lucid dream”. You must be objective. Plus, try to exercice more and sometimes ingest B-complex before sleep…

From what the Internet told me, vitamin B is mostly connected to the process of making energy available to the system, and keeping up the concentration. Does not sound like something I would need in the late evening ^^
And even exercising does not seem to help. Two weeks ago, after my first training session in a local swordfighting club, I got home late, was more or less exhausted, muscles aching, tired…I was totally anticipating to fall asleep soon, but nope, despite the “effort” I laid awake for the usual timespan. I just felt like I could keep going, sadly…
My daily lucid dream goal has not really changed during the last years either, I got around four or five settings I try to immerse myself as good as possible (almost) every night, but somehow it never happens. Really strange…
