Not entirely lucid

In the night once when I was half awake with my eyes closed I kept on telling myself to have a lucid dream and eventually I somehow found myself awake when I performed a RC to find that I was dreaming. I think I somehow managed to perform a Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream.
For some reason, I did not have a very realistic (nor lasting) experience and halfway in between I ‘forgot’ I was dreaming. Additionally, I am not entirely conscious and don’t remember everything therefore not have entire control.

This sort of thing has happened to me a few times now. I haven’t tried yelling “increase lucidity now!” or spinning or rubbing hands because of this half lucid experience since I do not even remember to do such things.

Can anybody give me some advice on this? This frustrates me in the morning when I realize what all I could have done in the dream but didn’t think of like going to the lucid crossroads.

This is a problem many people have. I’ve had a bout 80 LDs an still having problems with it.
To stay lucid, i remind myself all the time that I’m in a dream. I know what you mean when you say you “forgot” it was a dream.
I am neither entirely conscious. It’s hard to think “I wanna do this” while in the dream so i try to make up my mind before i fall asleep, “Tonight I wanna try to fly”. But remembering what to do in dreams is also a thing you have to learn. Stephen LaBerge has a guide on it on EWLD.
