I’m not sure who here is a member of the Lucidity Institute site, and if anybody else recieved this update. It’s an excerpt from an email sent out by lucidity institute (on 21st August), part of which was with regard to the NovaDreamer. Here it is, FYI:
There you have it. Years of inactivity, then suddenly this
it used to be very hard to find the old novadreamers, everynow and then someone would put one up on ebay. I think a lot of people gave up on them because its pretty much the same technique as a DILD, you still have to do your part to realise its a dream. The novadreamers worked by detecting when the user is in REM stage sleep, and would then cue sounds and a flashing light, which wouldn’t wake the dreamer up but would be incorporated into their dream, the person would then have to notice these lights/sounds in the dream and remember why they are there, to realise its a dream.
What If you did them like a reality check? Go with one during the day (off at school, of course) and set it to randomly do its part. Then, you would make an RC every time it is flashing. When sleeping, the same will happen, and you might LD every night!
The real benefit in a NovaDreamer is that you’re guarenteed to have a flashing light as a dreamsign, where as every other night of your life you really have no idea what dream signs are going to appear.
I tend to agree with you though, I don’t think the NovaDreamer will be worth the cost - and don’t really see myself purchasing one.
i bought it over Lucidity Institute for regular price.
didn’t help me. first, i think that i didn’t put enough time to really find the correct settings for me. i just tried with 4 different pre-programmed timers and that was. or i wake up in the morning and didn’t notice nothing or he wake me up because it was too intense.
pro’s and cons about it? hard to say. i still think that NovaDreamer is excellent device, but it doesn’t work without effort on users part.
yep, it’s true.
it detects that your eyes are moving. if you don’t set the delay timer and you have problem falling asleep it will confuse normal eye blinking for REM.
