I have been having lucid dreams periodically thanks to research on the internet, and sites like this. i would just like to thanks people like you to make this possible and introduce it to my life. allthough ive been doing it for a while, this is my first time registering to a site.
i had a very interesting lucid dream the other day. I became lucid in a middle of me dream, and im in seattle, new years eve, waiting for the fireworks show. After waiting in the cold for sometime the fireworks start up. after that its like remembering a black wall, nothing else after that EXCEPT at the very end, everones applausing and im highly amused. Then i feel highly concealed, packed in the crowd, no way out. The feeling of being traped crept up my spine and i said this is not reality, its a dream; i wanted to keep lucid. but i just keep on getting closterphobic(not sure on spelling) and it gets really bad, started to freak me out. i wanted to wake up so bad then, but couldnt, and it started to scare me. I couldnt wake up! then i woke up startled to the buzzzzzzzzzz of my alarm. i was literaly shaking!
my main question is that, can u actually get stuck in a dream, or is it just a feeling that overshadows lucidity? is it natural?
It belongs to yor dreamside of the dream and not to the lucid side.
Its not normal or average to have this, not at all!
In my opinion your only rational lucid, meaning u know u dream but that is it. No control yet, so your consciousness only realizes it dreames but hasnt yet recognized how to control the dream.
Lucidity has levels of how aware we are in our lucid dreams.
I have never heard about anybody getting stuck in a dream. But it can take a few seconds to wake from a nightmare, and it can feel like a long time! I believe a good way to avoid experiences like that, is to always remember it is a dream. You can do what you want, and nothing can harm you. It is never dangerous in fact, lucid dreaming can help people overcome fears.
i was just scared because this is my first time that this has occured… ive got a totally new idea on what it could be though…
i have always feard getting trapped in my dreams, i think i wasnt lucid at all in this dream, only i was dreaming i was lucid and stuck… more like a “nightmare” so to speak
Yes you need to have patience and also practice, experience.
Because when i look at my lds back 20 years and now…wow thats a huge change in control. Take flying lol 20 years back i couldnt fly to high or fast etc that all changed.
Realize also that control in a dream doesnt come from thinking rational, it comes from pure association!
If i dont have control in a ld i sing or dance often both and then i soon have control because i stimulate then my right brain side witch is the associative part that controles the dream not the more rational left brain hemisphere.
Voluntarely waking up from a dream probably takes some practice. What i do is to open my eyes and then concentrate on moving just one part of my real life body. I use this same method for breaking out of SP.
How ironic, most people try desperatley hard not to wake up! I once had a LD where I was in a crowd and everbody started to spontaneously climb onto my back just as I knelt down to feel how real the carpet felt. It felt utterly bizzare (being climbed on), unlike any feeling I have ever had before or since, and although it wasn’t strictly pleasant it wasn’t horrible or scary. Actually I woke up soon after laughing like crazy.
I think this was a worst case senario because you were afraid of this very thing happening. It’s a way of your mind say: Hey this is as bad as it gets and I still survived!
See it wasn’t really that bad. You lived. You woke up. Now everything from here can get better becuase you will have confidence you won’t get stuck.
Hope that helps. And think about all the fun things you’ll learn to do.
Yeah, I had a scary experience once while lucid–even though I was controlling it, my fear made it worse. I would get up to fly but then skid down onto the ground. It was dark and I couldn’t turn the lights on, faucets were running. No one was home. I think there might have been blood everywhere or something. I woke up shaking and afraid to go back to sleep.
Although this is old, i really should share my advice.
To me, it seems that your claustrophobia (that’s how you spell it ) took over in your dream there.
Try to suppress it, it’s a big obstacle to lucidity. Use your LD-s to kill your claustrophobia. LD-s can be used as a killer weapon to treat a variety of phobias, traumas and frights. What’s more important with LD-s, is that you can have sooo much fun, with nothing harming you mentally or physically!
Yeah, I had a similar experience once, my first two LD’s, too. I couldn’t see anything, but I knew I was dreaming, and I knew I was in my bed. I couldn’t move or anything! I was more frustrated than scared, but it’s not a good feeling, nonetheless. One tip I’ve received (from Wolf, I think) is to remind yourself (if you’re lucid) that it’s your dream and you can change it if you want to.
Remember that things like this happens more often in regular dreams than in lucid dreams, so no need to be afraid of becoming aware in dreams. You have more control in LDs!
