I dont know what the effects may be. One is that I set my alarm at like 4 or 5 in the morning and write with big letters on a peice of paper that says “YOU ARE DREAMING”. it may trick me into thinking that I am actually dreaming so when I go to bed I know what I am dreaming. Or I can write “YOU ARE NOT DREAMING” and see what happens differently. Theres alot of neat ideas like that in my mind. One problem is that my alarm is loud and I dont want to wake up other people.
I have the same issue with my alarm. Try using a kitchen timer.
