Problem with WILD

I go to sleep. I relax my body. I feel relaxed and I get my breathing all sorted out. Next thing, I start counting numbers (sometimes repeating a mantra inbetween them) or well… I try to blank out my mind. And when I try to blank out my mind - I’m not able to realize up to which point should I make it go blank… What can I think? Can I think at all? Should I think about something? Those questions will haunt me and then I can’t fall asleep at all. I can go on about those questions for hours… 4, 5, 6 if necessary. More, most likely… And as for counting-the-numbers thing. I could count up to 2000, 4000, 6000, doesn’t matter. I either fall asleep really fast, feeling nothing or I won’t fall asleep at all. I won’t lose consciousness. And it DOESN’T matter how tired I am. I can’t realize which part of my mind should I put to sleep.

What to do?

I have the same problem. I guess some of us are less prone to enter a desired state
I wish I could WILD myself. It’s no easy task for some people

I’m not an expert in WILD. Actually, most of my WILD’s were through chaining, which makes it easier.

Anyway, I saw something once that sounded really true for me, and I think if you can do it correctly it… works lol.

Anyway, the trick is to relax your body and not move it at all. And this includes specially your eyes (this part is really tricky for me, but I think you get better with practice).

The thing is, if you stay long enough without moving a single muscle, the body will think the mind fell asleep. The body can’t tell if you’re unconscious so it does a little test: it gives you the urge to roll over. I you’re still conscious you will roll over (normally) and then the body knows and will wait before it goes to sleep itself (SP). If you don’t move reacting to this urge the body knows you’re unconscious and thinks it’s ok to fall asleep.

So to trick the body, all you have to do is fight this urge and wait. I’ve gotten this far, but sometimes this urge can be increadibly strong. I couldn’t fight for long  Supposedly the less relaxed you are the stronger the urge.

I beleive it’s only a matter of practice, though. I should try this more, actually (will do  )

Hope I could help.

This can be helpful but,

don’t worry if you keep moving.

It’s very different for every person and very different for every exit.

You may suddenly find yourself going out of phase from the physical while you were not perfectly still after a few minutes and you might lie still for a long time and not phase out.

Keep practicing and the more you try, the more your body and mind get used to the idea.

You don’t need to lose consciousness (there isn’t really a thing as ‘losing consciousness’ but that’s a different discussion)

And you don’t need to make your mind fall asleep.

You just need to focus your attention away from the physical and into the dream world, or where you want to go to .

Do not make a mistake, you are not trying to fall asleep. You are trying to go somewhere else. Your body is falling asleep on the way.

Just try to move your body as less as possible and concentrate on where you want to be.
That’s all there is to it.

Keep trying ^^

hope this helps

For me, when i try WIlD, i focus on one thing instead of trying to blank out my mind altogether. try focusing on counting, or just a certain image in your mind. ive only had one sucessful WIlD, but find that you become further in the process if you do this instead of blanking out.
good luck!
ps: even though i am new to this forum, i am not new to LDing.
