Problems with flying.

In many of my LDs I had no problem at all with flight.
All I had to do was to throw myself down from a building or flap a little.
But in 3 out of 4 previous lucid dreams, I have had problems with flying. :eh:
In my last one, I could fly for very short periods and in a kind of bat-style.
But most often I would just fall down or loose “balance” or whatever you have when you fly.
This shouldn’t have to do with expectations, because I expected to be able to fly…

Has this happened to anyone? :help:

yeah, all the time.

for me it’s like sometimes it’s just not a good time to fly, other times it is.

I’m not really sure why, but I can tell you that you’ll have good flights soon.

I myself have never flown in a lucid dream. I have can’t recall ever flying in a non-lucid dream either. But I must mention one thing, the first time I became lucid ever, I tried to fly. I became lucid in the middle of this big open field at a summer camp I used to attend. I ran and jumped in the air, and I would get pretty high. But I seamed to glide down to the ground as if I was a leaf falling off a tree. I kept running and trying, no success. I seemed to experience quite a ballance problem when up in the air and landing.

I flew in one of my first LDs, I just had to practise a little.

And now I’ve had another LD where I can’t fly. Really annoying. Can this have something do with that in my older dreams I forgot to do what I really wanted because I just kept flying around?

Actually this is happening to me now  I use to fly a lot in my first few LD’s, now i can only seem to mega jump then float back down slowly hmmm…

The thing is that when i fly in my dreams im low lucid so is not that hard to me to fly since im not completely lucid.

Be sure that you convince yourself that you can fly, and that it’s just a matter of practise and some patience if it doesnt go well for a period. Don’t fall into the pittrap of having trouble to fly in some LD’s, thus thinking “flying is very hard”, which on it’s turn causes flying to be even harder. Positive / affirmative thinking is the key.

I imagined a pill in my pocket that would make me fly when I took it.

I also imagined energy pushing from the bottom of my feet, propelling my through the air.

This is just a random suggestion and I don’t know if it will actually work, but what if instead of trying to fly straightaway, you imagine growing angel wings first? I’ve flown in lots of my normal dreams in various ways, and it feels very different with wings than it does without. Perhaps you’ll find it easier that way?

Stormthunder: I’m not very good at transforming yet, but I will try that.
Maybe these “shortcuts” like growing wings or taking dream pills can help. Otherwise it will be back to practising om my grandmothers roof I guess…

I couldn’t fly until I tried taking a pill.
