Problems with WILD

well I have been trying WILD now for like 6 months, and no real results. I don’t know what I am doing wrong, if I even am. I just lay in bed not moving, relaxed and calm. I don’t get scared when the virbrations or numbness sets on. I just cant seem to make “the jump” by body seems to just “wake up” before I get to the dream. And to make things worse, 2 nights ago, when WILDing my body “woke up” like it usualy does and i said [out loud] “WOW that was alsome” then 2 seconds latter i said to my self “wait wtf was alsome? what? did i just wild? and not remember it? WTF!?!?!?!?!”

anyone got any ideas? anyway for my body not to “wake up”

What “type” of WILD are you trying to do, are you focusing on HI as you fall asleep, focusing on senses, using visual imagery, etc?

It is possible that you WILDed, had a lucid dream, and then forgot it; this has certainly happened to me. As a curiosity how many dream(s) do you remember on average per day/week.

You say you feel like your close to being in a dream; do you notice this as you WILD and, if so, do you get excited or apprehensive as those types of emotions can cause you to tense/wake-up

By type of WILD, i didn’t know there was more then one. i am trying to just get into the dream. i just sort of watch the HI.

For the remembering, i usually remember at least pits and parts of 2 to 3 dreams, but often i do remember at least 1 to 2 full dreams, there are nights that i don’t remember any but that is only like 4 or 5 times a month.\

No i don’t focus on the WILD as much as the dream. i don’t get excited or scared, just sort of lay there, but my body just seems to “wake up” almost like maybe it should be a FA but never is.

Sorry, by saying type of WILD I was unclear; what I was trying to say is that there are different methods of doing WILD such as focusing on HI, various imagery technqiues, a SP method, etc.

Well, it sounds as if you have good enough dream recall to remember your lucid dreams so I would be somewhat suprised if you had an LD and forgot it…but its possible.

So, when watching HI do you get to a point where it starts to become images or patterns etc. as opposed to just random colors/shapes? Another option is to try a different method of WILD such as couting 1 I’m dreaming, 2 I’m dreaming etc. and focus on that until you find that you’re in a dream.

I would also be curious to know how long it generally takes you to fall asleep as WILD tends to be less effective if takes you a long time to fall asleep…O, are you trying WILD at the beginning of the night or with a WBTB?

usually i get some shapes and colors, sometimes i get actual, very bullary dreams, probably HI. i tried the counting thing but id doesn’t keep me up enough i just fall asleep.

generally it takes around 30mins to 1hour for me to get to the HI and SP state. i have tried WBTB + WILD but i often fall asleep with that so i try at the beginning of night.

now last night i know i was VERY VERY close. [i finally got The Orange Box, so i was playing Portal till like 11:30pm] I was starting to get ether a some what clear HI or Dream where i was in the game Portal and i was running around placing portals and stuff, i even started to hear the Portal Gun noise, but my body “woke up”, not sure if it was HI or Dream.

also it the body “waking up” thing normal. i could be in the middle of SP one sec, can move or anything then a min later my body is out of SP and awake.

Try this technique. I’ve gone farther than I ever have trying to WILD while listening to a tape. It helps me concentrate.

i have seend that and
i have tried that like 3 times, with no results, but ill try it again tonight.

The beginning of the night is generally not the best time to attempt a WILD on two accounts. First, there is a long time between sleep onset and your first REM cycle (when most dreams occur), about 90 minutes. That alone is a long time to lay in bed waiting for HI. The second issue is with the sleep cycle itself; as you fall asleep at the beginning of the night you go through the stages of sleep, including theta and delta. The result - Delta is an extremely deep sleep that is near impossible to stay awake through.

That said beginning of the night does work for some people; but, if you have the time try something like this: Get a good night’s sleep, wake-up and maybe get some breakfast, then come back like an hour later and try your WILD. It will be much easier to get to REM and into a dream. Additionally, a nap is another good time for WILD because the body enters REM very quickly.

WIlD can be mastered, short lucid dreams aren’t wroth it, you really just have to practice staying awake. I can get to SP and great HI really fast my only problem is that every time I notice it my mind kinda snaps back to reality and over focuses causing me to wake up WILD is the best technique just whatch the HI and stay awake, it took me two weeks for my first WILD. Also make sure you aren’t to tired, HI comes faster but concentration is harder

i read an article about the hardcore WILD method , written by Darek Sugier if you know who he is
so, Darek wrote, than you have`nt sleep for all friday night. In saturday you have to have an active day and go to bed saturday 0:00. Then you have to keep the mind awake ;]
You cannot drink any coffee, red bull or any other stimulant of the neural system

I havent tried that metod yet, but im going to  i think it must be effective technic, because one time i havent sleep 3 hours at night and when i fall asleep, I had WILD, vibrations, hallucinations and rest of this shit
peace

ps. sorry for mistakes, write me if you can help with edit

( I think i reached my successes because of my age, im younger than the most of you and i had some experience with dreaming in the past, so it was not so hard for me ;] advice for ld maniacs: relax, it will come to you  just have fun with normal dreams, write the DJ and one day you will have ld or oobe… )

I’ll bet a good part of this success same from the fact that you were sleep deprived. As a result instead of going through sleep cycle normally you fell quickly into REM and were easily able to get good HI and vibrations.

I’m not sure what you mean by “best”. For me MILD actually produces a higher rate of lucid dreams. My MILD success rate if probably close to 95+% but I would say WILD is only about an 80% surety, especially at the beginning of the night. WILD does, however, tend to produce more vivid dreams with a higher level of lucidity because you maintain that absolute consciousness and awareness that you had in waking life.

Additionally techniques are not cookie cooker; there is no one that fits everybody. Depending on your sleeping style/patterns/habits different techniques can be far more successful for different people.
