Problems With WILD

I REALLY want to learn to WILD. I think it would be a pretty reliable method if I could learn to do it. My problem is that my mind always wanders and I end up falling asleep when I try to do it! How can I prevent this, and does anyone have any tips on WILDing?

Well one way is to let you mind wander but concentrate on the differnt topics i guess, or count in your head… that usually helps me keep focused. BTW i never really WILDed since childhood and i usually reached this by doing simple math in my head (this was like i was 8-10, maybe this is why im good at math lol)

Sadly that is the problem all of us have with WILD. You’re going to need something to keep your mind wondering. Counting is good, and I would suggest you count a new number every time you exhale. Also, set a cap to how high you count. I’ve heard some people stop at 60 or 100.

I always questioned that, how slow do you count, and once you reach your count what are you supposed to do after that? I seem to get stuck in a black void, and ill literally feel like my body is sleeping. I keep counting to 100 over and over, every once and a while ill get to a point where I can only count to about 20 and I lose track from almost falling completely unaware/into a dream, but then conscious thought comes back and I remembered that I was counting but lost track where I was, then im no where near a dream anymore.

Also I wanted to ask, is it possible that through failed WILD attempts, that you can fall asleep for a short 2 to maybe 6 hours without having any dreams? this seems to happen when I try WILD while going to bed. Basically when I WILD while going to bed, it increases the chances of me not putting a new dream into my DJ the next day, because I will not have any clue as to what happened during the night because it seems im slipping in and out of consciousness throughout the night then end up falling asleep for the last few hours, when I wake up, im almost sure I had no dreams whatsover throughout the night.

Hmm I have the same problem when doing a WILD-attempt early in the morning. But when I do a WILD-attempt in a afternoon nap, I just can’t fall asleep. I’m usally coming so far: I see different pictures in my mind. In the early morning I lose the track and fall asleep. In the afternoon it’s exact the opposite. I lie there over 1h and still no change.

Maybe I’m not patient enough (during the afternoon naps). How long does it usally take, until the SP is coming?

One cool little thing you can try is keep your eyes open! But only do this if you are sleepy enough or it will just keep you awake. Find a comfortable position and keep your eyes open. If you’re sleepy enough your eyelids will start getting heavy and will close by themselves. When this happens, open them again! And repeat. After a while, with luck, your eyes will close for good and you will actually open your dream eyes :content: I haven’t gotten this far yet, but when I do this I end up havin a DILD, so it’s worth a try

Sounds cool! I think I’ll try this.

Just don’t forget to do a RC.

So does this happen to anyone else? Every time I try WILD I end up at the point where im falling in and out of consciousness/dreams, ill start reaching a dream and ill lose complete total consciousness, it will be there a little bit, but once the dream starts coming ill have conscious thought drift back and ruin the dream, this happens several times until it eventually ends with me losing total awareness and falling asleep for 2-5 hours with no recollection of dreams, does anyone else miss out on dreams when they fail WILD?
