Ok, I just had a WILD 2 nights ago and my heart rate is up so high lately, I cant calm down. I cant shake the EXTREME feeling of weightlessness / tickle feeling during the transition. My heart rate was sky rocketing during that stage and I got so freaked out that I woke myself up. When I got up my heart was pounding so hard. Now, I didn’t get much sleep after that and then went to school… my heart rate has been so high for the past 2 days… when ever I think of anything pertaining to a dream my heart rate goes up alot, maybe its because Im just too excited.
I want to be able to be calm for a few days before I try it again. I know my heart is gonna speed up so fast, II just don’t know what to do. I try to breath slowly with my stomach, try to think of other stuff, but it doesn’t work.
So you think the best thing for me to do is maybe wait a few days and try a WILD again? Or should I just go ahead tonight and try it? I have no real apparent issues falling asleep in the past 2 days, after my experience, its just during the day I have like constant stress.
ALSO, here is one big question, If I try for a WILD again, should it be after I wake up after sleeping for about 4 hours? I know I can do it right when I go to bed, but am not sure if that’ll produce any dreams… And when the WILD happens, I should have my eyes closed right? What happens if u leave them open? Does Sleep paralysis occur where all the bad stuff comes into ur room?

Hmm. I’m very new here (I just joined last night), so I’m not quite sure what is recommended. It sounds like you may be a bit too into LDing- maybe you need to take a little break and not think about it so much. As for the eyes open part, I’m very interested in that, too- I naturally sleep with my eyes open. Even if I fall asleep with my eyes closed, which is rarely, my eyes somehow naturally open. It really freaks people out.
Basically, I would suggest taking a break and forgetting about LDing for the time being. From what I’ve heard, sleep paralysis happens to some people and not to others. As for the question about if it should be after you wake up, really, that depends on the person. Personally, I would suggest waking up after 5 hours or so, maybe 4 1/2, and then trying to WILD. Hope that helped.

Thanks for your response Wannabe
, I really appreciate it. For each day after the WILD experience, (so far its been 3 since) I’ve been getting calmer throughout the day and feeling better.
Also, I know I can do a WILD right before I can go to bed, and not after sleeping, which is like 10 or 11 pm. Can u get dreams from this, I really wna know before I try. I don’t want to be waiting (with that weightlessness feeling and weird sounds) for like an hour just for a dream.
I hear that it is much harder to WILD when you go to sleep, but its easier if you wake up like 4-6 hours after and then try.
Its easy for me to start a WILD when going to sleep. I only got the the part where u feel all numb and fuzzie… If this happens, and I were to conitune, would I have a dream?
From my own experience, if I concentrate enough, I can have an WILD most every time I get that “fuzzy” feeling.
I’ve found some techniques that really speed the WILD process up and get me dreaming in hardly any time. Maybe they’ll work for you too.
For one, whenever the feeling starts, I relax as much as possible and slow my breathing considerably. Then-- and this is something I learned very recently-- I pop my ears (like you would when the air pressure changes in a plane or high altitudes). The ear popping thing always manages to amplify the fuzzy feeling, and it is usually then that I will feel as though I’m being pulled strongly through my bed. After a few seconds of this, I will be in a LD.
It also really helps me if, after I’m sure I’m very close to an LD, I try to roll out of bed.
Another thing that speeds up the process for me, is when I hear voices or noises while I’m trying to WILD. I find that when I concentrate on the noises I am far more likely to WILD than I am to wake up.
