i had a dream last night and i did a RC in it, but it didnt get me lucid. why didnt it work? and ive been try to accomplish WILD but it has been making my dreams very confusing and complex…i don’t even understand the dreams sometimes. like one time i thought it was someone else who was dreaming and not me.
can anyone help me?
What RC method are you using?
hold nose then try to breathe through it
Since it will be the very act that will allow you to recognize if it’s a dream or not, you must take a moment for it, pay attention to it, and really mean it when you try to breathe through your nose;
this way, you’ll catch the difference fairly easily when you’re in a dream, and you’ll be able to get lucid instantly.
For the confusing dream problem, remember that it’s always you who is at the center of your experiences, and no one else. Everything percieved or experienced that you are able to feel or remember, it’s you that is percieving or experienced it, take time to realize that, then next time you’re in a dream, put this into use and take control.
RC’s are a bit trickier than just doing a RC anytime and hoping it’ll turn up in your dream and that you’ll pass.
When doing an RC in reality it should be in a situation that you really doubt that you’re awake. For example, your eyes caught a glimpse of something wierd. A short hallucination, if you will (once i thought I saw a navy-blue colibri fly off my glass while I was eating). It’s in these akward situations you should stop and ask yourself “wait, am I dreaming?” Then preform a reality check suspecting that you will pass. Meaning if you do the “hold your nose and try to breath in” RC, you have to hope, imagine and believe that you’ll be able to breathe through. That way your mind won’t double-cross you by false-failing you in a dream.
Just to add to the above posts, what I do is I take a deep breath first without pinching my nose and really pay attention to how it feels, how the air coming in my nose and down filling my lungs feels like. Then I pinch my nose and try to breathe as if the result would be EXACTLY the same.
It’s just a detail, but I’ve had your problem in the past and this has fixed it 99 times out of 100!
So is there a collective agreement that the nose plug RC is favorable or easiest? It is how I go about it -quite absent minded no less- and it has worked in the past. I remember the feeling of breathing in through a closed nostril was very shocking.
Counting fingers have worked perfectly for me, only failed twice i think, try it I have around 8 fingers in my dreams. I also had some problems with not-working RC’s before i had my first lucid dream and now counting fingers is my only RC.
thanks everyone! i’ll take note of all the suggestions
I like that. I’ve heard a lot of talk about the hands but your method takes it to another level
I agree with what everyone has said above… but i think it needs to be emphasised that whenever you do an RC - whether IWR or in a dream that whilst you do it you have to believe absolutely that it will work (or fail - however you want to look at it!).
I think belief is the important aspect here. If you are in a dream and you believe that you can breathe through a blocked nose then you will and the RC will work
yea but most of the times i dont controll myself in dream(im kinda starting to) i jus go with the flow.
