Reading in my dreams

I have just began exploring becoming lucid. I seem to be progressing quickly. In 3 days I went from not remembering any or few dreams to vividly remembering 3 a night. They are so vivid that last night I wrote down 9 pages of content ( which is just above the average since I started). But I noticed a problem after awaking. Supposedly, reading during your dreams is hazy and blurred. I had several dreams where I read info with no difficultly. I still consciously remember what I read. On dream even took place in a study group. Last night I was in an airport and when I wondered what airline I was taking I looked up a sign and saw the logo “Psan”. I pronounced it like “bison” but my brother corrected my accent and pronounced it like “piss on”.

I read very often in my dreams and in real life. I was hoping to use language as a dreamsign to acheive lucidity but obviously that isn’t working. Now, since I’m not supposed to be able to coherently read in my dreams, does anybody have some suggestions as to what’s goin on in my head?

Thanks,

Dionysis

Hi dionysis ! and congrats for you great progress ! :good:
The reading problem was much debated few years ago. Some experienced dreamers said that words were changing in dreams and it could be a reliable RC. Other experienced dreamers said that words didn’t change, and that they could read full stories in dreams.

As reading seems to be a good dreamsign for you, I wouldn’t give you the advice to change it immediatly. It’s very common that you miss your first occasions to become lucid. For instance, in the “find your hands” technique, beginners often have normal dreams where they see a lot of hands everywhere, but in the first times, it’s not sufficient to make them realize they found their hands and achieve lucidity. It would be better that you persist in your experiments about reading, see if words change when you don’t look at them, or if you find a lot of curious words in your dreams, and if these unconsistencies make you lucid or pre-lucid.

Good luck ! I hope you’ll tell us your 1st lucid dream soon !

I can read in my dreams (both lucid adn non-lucid) as well. Though occasionally one of the words will change slightly (maybe gain or lose a letter) but other than that I have no problems. So don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Talk about progress! That is a tremendous gift… I have been LDing (almost every time I fall asleep now) for about 10 years and I still occasionally have trouble reading because of the tendency of the words and letters to morph. Try writing, also. This is another fascinating dream skill that I have attempted to hone (when I remember to). I’ve found that if you write or read in a more pictographic manner (using symbols or a combination of words and symbols), the meaning often becomes more coherent. I’m also a musician and somewhat of a writer in waking. I’ve also tried to write lyrics while conducting or composing music at the same time -with little success. Being able to concentrate on the level needed to understand what you are reading is awesome, especially in such a short time :read: :eh: . Being able to do several tasks at once such as flying, land(dream)-scaping, creating music, and maintaining a constant level of awareness at the same time is one of my goals.
