Reality check help

Hi.

Three months ago I moved to another city.
And about one month ago I find out about Lucid Dreaming, and I read some books, this and other forums, etc.

Two weeks ago I start with Dream Journal to learn my dreams, and to get “reality check” spots.

And here is the problem.
Almost all my dreams (2/3) are about my old town and friend/people I leave there. I didn’t see them or be there for two months.
And 1/3 of this dreams are about places I never visit before. Maybe from TV, I don’t know.

So, how to make “Reality check” about distance people and places?
I don’t have any idea?!

Help me!!!

Thanks.

Hi niksa.

You could try a different approach. Try autosuggestion; when you go to sleep, repeat a few minutes to yourself “When I dream about my old town, I will know it is a dream!”. This works best if you do it after WBTB. Good luck .

Yes, and you can also try this MILD technique part: before you go to sleep, you remember your dream and when you are in your old town, you imagine that you realize it’s a dream, then you imagine that you do what you planed to do in a LD, for instance flying or performing a RC.

Why not make yourself associate your old home with lucid dreaming? For example, if you are the only one who uses your computer, you could make a background image with a picture if that location and the text “Is this a dream?” or something similar.

Hi.

I did try all of this but nothing work for me?

Few weeks ago I was try digital watch RC.
I did look in watch few time in day (just when I remember to watch, I didn’t
get clue from outside world, I just think about to do RC when I need to see
what’s the time or when I think about LD), and after few days of trying I
was get my first LD. I did see my watch in dream, do RC and become lucid.
After that I didn’t get any LD, but I still do RC few time in day.

What I do wrong here?

I need somehow to “connect” my day RC with my distance people and places.
I need to remember to do RC when I dream about distance people and places, but I don’t know how?

Help.

Are mental RCs as good as classic ones? For example, I’ve been repeating and trying IRL to summon objects. Maybe I can’t find useful objects in a dream to do RCs on them (books, light switches, mirrors …). Maybe it helps if you’re in unknown places.

Answer:

It sounds like you aren’t very motivated. Is it the only technique you are using?

I don’t know. It seems that mental RC’s are not very used here.

Can you explain “mental RC” or give me URL?

I am very good in vizualization!
Any suggestions?

Is it the only technique you are using?
Yes. What else can I do except RC?

By mental RC I meant something like trying to summon objects. The idea came across my mind because it seems to be discrete. I’m thinking of something like closing your eyes and expect something to appear after you open your eyelids (or trying to change the scenery this way).

I try one week to do digital watch RC ~10 time/day, whenever I think about LD and/or I need to know what’s the time.
But I never do that in my dream?
I don’t carry day RC to night/dream RC, and I don’t know way?
I think that is my problem?!?!?!?!?!
Any suggestion what to do?

I have vivid dreams, and I remember 2 or more dreams per night, but I just don’t make RC in my dream and/or I don’t look for dream-sign in my dream because everything is so normal?

Help.

I sympathise with you Niksa. I too have been doing reality checks (usually with a digital watch too) on and off for the past year, though few of my lucid dreams have actually featured a digital watch - perhaps two.
In relation to reality checking people who are far away, if you’ve got a picture of people or places that you frequently dream about then you could place the picture somewhere you see it frequently, and do an RC every time you look at the picture.

If you don’t use RC through day, how you get LD?

By MILD or DILD (just realising it is a dream)

and using WBTB really increases your chances of becoming lucid.

I can’t explain this, maybe someone can help me.

I awake in 4.15am and can’t sleep for maybe 2 hours. I just lay down in bad and thinking about everything.
Then I start thinking (or I dream about it, I don’t know) about my old town and my old friends. I walk around and talk with some friend. Then I figure out this must be a dream. But, I wasn’t totally sure am I dreaming.
Then some odd vibration start. My whole body start to shake, and I hear some crazy sounds.
After 10 seconds vibration stop and I try to do RC. But whole dream then become blurred.
First I try my watch, but I couldn’t see it. Then I put my finger in my palm, but I wasn’t sure because dream was blurred.
And finally I try to count my fingers and then I wake up (7.20am).

I was sure that I was in the dream, but I couldn’t become aware because I was needed some proof.

  1. Any advice what to do if this happen again?
BTW, I did NOT do any day-RC for last four days?!

  2. What about vibration?
How can I have vibration in the dream?
I read about that vibration happen when we start to fall in dream, not when we are in dream?!

  3. How long vibration last for you?
I think my last about 10 sec.

This happened to me tonight. I was sure I was in a dream, tried some RC’s but couldn’t convince myself I was dreaming. And the dream was blurred.

I think there is no solution. First of all, blurred dreams are quite rare, so that it may never happen again. Thus it’s not very important to search a solution to this. Then if your RC doesn’t work, since it is the only possibility of becoming lucid, you can’t do anything more.

He he! That’s great! It means that your subconscious knows that you have to perform RC’s when you wonder whether it’s a dream. As for me, I didn’t perform day RC’s for months yet I tried to check reality.

I don’t find this to be surprising. Some ND’s or LD’s content are close to this pre-WILD state.

I experienced this just once in a LD. It lasted about 30 seconds.
