REM deprivation

I’m thinking of trying to deprive myself of REM sleep tonight to try and induce a LD using the WILD technique the following day in the afternoon. I’ll go to bed at around 10pm, set the alarm for 3am, and then try to keep myself awake for the rest of the night until the morning. Will this be effective? Will my body automatically go into REM sleep if I do the WILD in the afternoon?

I’m not saying that I created that method, as I’m fairly certain it’s already been thought of. It came to me when thinking about my experiences as a kid. I would wake up from a nightmare in the middle of the night and try to keep myself awake because I was terrified of going back to sleep. I noticed that, the more I tried to keep myself from dreaming, the quicker the transition from being awake to being asleep was. My eyes would try to close, and as soon as they did, a split second later I was back into my nightmare. And I was completely aware that it was a nightmare and not reality, so imagine how simple it’ll be to enter a lucid state after a whole 12 hours of my body wanting REM sleep.

Anyway, advice on how to still awake and not drift off before morning would be appreciated.

Wish me luck!

That’s why naps exist.
When you don’t have enough REM periods, your naps are full of them.
I don’t think it’s a method but you can use it to better your attempts at WILDing.
I know what I’m talking about…

Oh, cool, thanks. Hehe, I probably sound so noobish.

No, it’s your standard question.

But I have a question:
Are you supposed to nap regularly?

Not at all. Naps are very good for LDing because they only contain REM periods, and your chances of having LDs multitply.

If you want your chances of having a LD to multiply, yes.
Some people don’t need much sleep, others need 12 hours of sleep.
In my opinion, naps are great for LDing, and for WILD too because you enter REM period right away.
