Reserving a room

Just wanted to share my success at “reserving a room” (of conscious reality) in dreamland as I approached the sleep state. I had only one prior lucid dream several months ago, and it was not very masterful, moved accross an imaginary desk top once before the dream collapsed.
So I was becoming discouraged at my lack of subsequent success. Finally, I decided that it was high time I got lucid. I had enough. Also, I reasured myself “you can do it.” The technique that finally worked came to me last night, the night before Christmas Eve (perhaps I also wanted to give myself a Christmas gift, or more acurately let God and the beyond give it to me).
As I drifted to sleep, I simply focused on my lingering awake state. I imagined or told myself that I would reserve this state as though reserving a room in dreamland.
It worked like a charm. Late in the night, early in the A.M., I was looking at the edge of a steep embankment or small craig. A few feet below and to the right was a body of water. I realized this was a dream and decided to hover above the water. I stepped out and stayed suspended above it. Around that time, I also flew gradually higher and higher above a mechanical object (can’t quite recall its exact nature). I also moved from one corner of a basement to the next in mid air (This may have actually happened first; I’m not sure about the exact sequence of events).
In another part of the dream sequence (I think soon before the lucidity, preparing me mentally for the lucidity to come), pop corn was forming in a fishes and loaves sort of way in multiple bags. The white bags were from the luminary bags our neighbors got together to place sand and candles in, in real life the day before. The stone soup/synergy thing was probably on my mind, especially during the Christmas season. Things could be created (if only we cooperate) sort of thing. So, this theme of holiday cooperation and grace might have also been a factor in breaking my several month dry spell for lucid dreaming.
Still, I think the “reserve-a-room” technique was probably one of the best for me. I simply stumbled upon it, although I’m sure it’s been used by other lucid dreamers. Just wanted to share it here, in case it happens to be as effective for others as it was for me.
