Right on the edge...

Hey fellow dreamers! I’m a bit of a newbie. I’ve been reading up and have been DJ for about 3 weeks or so. I’ve been RC throughout the day and have been trying to be more aware of my surroundings. I started doing MILD a few days ago.

I’ve had 1 LD since I started “trying” (I’ve had them before, when I didn’t know about lucid dreaming). Anyways, lately I’ve had a couple ND where I say to myself “Is this a dream?” but then my mind somehow convinces me that it’s not.

I had 1 ND a couple days ago, which was actually a FA, where I did the hand RC and I couldn’t see my hands but somehow I was persuaded I wasn’t dreaming.

Then last night I had a ND where I began to fly and thought to myself “I should check my hands to see if this is a dream” but then I made some excuse not too and kept flying.

My question is, should I just keep doing what I’m doing and eventually I’ll get it? Should I be doing something more or different? I’m sorry, this question has probably been asked a million times. Just wanted to see what everyone thought. Thanks guys!

Hi there hoodswigler :content:

It definitely sounds like you’re having a strong start and you’re doing a lot of the things we’d recommend you do. If you continue with what you’re doing it will get easier and you will begin to get more and more lucid dreams. The big that that will change as you go is your mindset. It might help for you to think of it this way: it’s not a question of whether you’re dreaming or not, it’s a question of if you’re awake.

What I mean by that is that you have no way of being 100% certain that you’re awake or not. I’m sure you’ve had plenty of dreams in which you are totally convinced you’re awake. And even in the FLD’s you described above, you convinced yourself you were awake. If you can plant that little bit of doubt, that little thought there’s always a chance you’re dreaming, it will help quite a bit.

Best of luck!

Awesome! Thanks Rhewin! I’ll start planting the seeds of doubt
