just wondering, does anyone else not wake up during a nightmare? I haven’t for quite some time. Instead i’m just startled when i see something terrifying, then i find a way around it. I wish it would startle me into lucidity instead. Anyways, just want to know if anyone else has stopped waking up for nightmares
I don’t wake up, the dream just continues as normal. Even though the don’t lead me to lucidity I do like the thrill of them.
the thrill is fantastic, the perfect adrenaline rush for sure.
I actually become faintly lucid when i have a nightmare. It wakes me up, and when i realize its only a dream, i go back to sleep and either make the scary thing dissapear or i am not concerned with the monsters since they can’t really do anything to me.
I miss my nightmares. A few times when I was little I realized I was dreaming and woke myself up. Then after I learned more about LDs here, when I had some, there were a few that I became lucid in and changed dreamscenes. Once, though, I changed dreamscenes into another creepy dream, and just ended up waking myself up since I couldn’t change again.
Yea once I see one of the infamous horror movie killers I either get lucid on the spot or keep dreaming on auto pilot and nothin bad ever happens. The dream just turns into a simple game of survival or hide and seek. Either way entertaining but odly not scary. Maybe we dont scare easily anymore or just dont get scared anymore period.
maybe it has something to do with our want to keep dreaming, and our conscious understanding that what happens in a dream simply can’t harm us
I usually being chased by zombies in my nightmares or being punched to death… But then I wake up because of fear or because I punch my face IRL.
Aww man zombie dreams are awesome!
I’ve played zombie games for so long, and watched zombie movies for even longer. It’s rare that i’ll ever have a zombie dream in which i don’t have a gun, and if i don’t have a gun it’s rare that i’ll wake up from fear. It’s these defense mechanisms i’ve been taking note of, so that they might trigger lucidity.
you can say to yourself that when you see some zombies you’ll do a RC but I think it’s pretty rare IRL…
if your seeing zombies outside of dreams, i suggest seeking mental help XD
Nice. When it comes to swarms I usually outrun them on foot or discover some random way out like a trap door or something. I’ve also realized something about my zombie dreams after reading your post Rave . Why haven’t I ever used a gun…?
The only time I had one in an LD a mall cop confiscated it and gave me a nerf gun(
ended up being the told ya so guy that survives at the end of that one)%} Since then Ive somehow been able to take out zombies with a melee weapon or by decapitating hand to hand w/o gettin bit. I remember one time getting a zombie on the ground, putting a rug over its head, pressing my foot down on its head, and pulling its legs until I heard a pop and it stopped resisting.
i’ve reviewed my dream journal and realized a trend with every four or so entries is i usually see at least one zombie. i need to start asking myself “where did i get this gun, how do i know how to shoot it, why haven’t i reloaded, and why isn’t there a kick” i think those are things anyone who often dreams about guns should watch for
Yea let the gun or the zombie be your RC, reality check, that’ll lead you to becoming lucid a lot easier. Nice take advantage of those trends while you can.
The only gun I held in a dream was a paint ball gun… It seems that I have to upgrade something in my dreams.
well, not dreaming about weapons really says something about your character ^-^ violent lucid dreams aren’t something i want, but it would be nice to rewrite the crusades XD
If you want to have a lucid dream using “guns” like a RC you need to believe in it at 100% because for me my DS are dreams… I mean that in my dreams there are many objects and dialogues related to LD, and as you can see I never had a LD yet because I don’t investigate myself at 100%.
PS: You can use the word “gun” as you mantra, and then you will have guns and will do a RC !
thanks for the advice ^-^
I used to try to induce zombie dreams. Never really worked. It’s weird too that sometimes the theme of a dream is zombies, but you never actually see any. You just know they are out there.
To answer the original question. I can’t say that I have a fixed pattern. I do not have many dreams that contain scary things. When I do, I sometimes wake up and sometimes not. I don’t really know which is more common. Also, things that should be scary, are not always scary.
