Self-Aware DCs

I’m new here, but I’ve been browsing through many topics on the forums, and most of the posts I’ve read about DCs talk about how stupid or annoying they are. Mine are quite the opposite and I’m wondering if anyone has heard of this before.

I frequently have dreams (and not all of them are necessarily lucid) where I meet people I know in real life and we talk about normal things, as if we weren’t in a dream. For example, recently, I ran into one of my teachers in a dream and we talked about my classes for next year. But it gets even stranger, and this might sound a little confusing, but I’ll try my best to explain.

There are times where I meet people I know in my dreams, and not only do they act just like their RL counterparts, but they are fully aware that they’re in a dream. They talk about their real selves and when they have to leave, they often tell me that they’ll see me when I wake up the next day.

One time, after I had a long conversation with one of these dream-versions of a real person, I asked him how I could tell if our meeting was real. He told me to ask his waking-self about “the colorful pens.” I guess this was supposed to be some sort of code, and it made perfect sense in my dream, but when I woke up it sounded so ridiculous that I never asked the person about it.

So, has anyone ever experienced this?

Wow, usually my DC’s are sensible, but never have they actually said they were in a dream.

I kind of know what you mean. Recently my DC´s have been aware it´s a dream. That´s because I´m always telling them that though.

well, in my normal dreams, my DC’s don’t really talk much. Mostly in just chasing a DC, fighting one, running away from one, helping one, saving one, or one is helping/saving me.

I don’t know how they will be when I become lucid.

You seem to have very active NDs. It could be reflecting on a personal turmoil subcontiosly. :tempted:

lol. i was trying to think of a word to describe my DCs. But, I couldn’t think of it  . I was going to describe them as shy or “non-talkable” but, that doen’t fit them very well. lol, i feel stupid.

oh well…

but, yeah, my dreams are active. Maybe one reason why DCs don’t talk in my dreams could be just because IRL i don’t talk much and i’m kinda shy…Is there anything I could do to talk more in my dreams?

and to answer Artifex Eximius’ queston: no, I have not expercienced that, I have only few conversations in my dreams.

So are you lucid when you tell them because obviously you know you’re dreaming too right?

And you should have asked him about the pens, lol it would be too crazy if dreams actually could be linked in some way.

Spud to respond to your question I can think of four ways to solve your problem.

  1. Become more outgoing in life. Your dreams should reflect (ND or LD).

  2. When ever you get LD s try to interact with the characters. (Who knows they might talk to you in normal dreams to).

  3. Try to get somone IRL to come into your dreams and promote relations between you and your DC s.

  4. See a counseler (You never know you could be troubled :nuu: ).
    Hope this helps

All I can say is that I definitely agree with Tahku - you should have asked your friend about the pens in WL. It could have been a start to evidencing shared dreams.

(Well, somewhat evidencial…)

As far as experiencing existential DCs… I can’t say that they have been that aware. Complex, yes - but not self-aware. At least, not on occasion…

Yeah, I know I should have asked about the pens, but in RL we aren’t close enough for me to feel comfortable mentioning it, especially since it was likely that he wouldn’t have any idea what I was talking about. If something like that ever happens with any of my closest friends, I will definitely ask them about it, but usually the DCs I talk to the most in my dreams are people that I don’t see often in RL. I rarely have dreams about people I talk to on a regular basis.

I meet more strangers in my dreams than friends…

However, I frequently find a person when I’m lucid who sees me as an enemy… Most of the time it’s a young boy and other times it’s a monster. The young boy usually just tries to get control over me and tells me to shut up while I defy him (once I hit him with lightning coming from my fingers). As a monster, though, the character is more aggressive and tries to harm or kill me.

Of course, then, there are characters who appear in my dreams more than once. The most common is one of the monsters I mentioned above - he is a werewolf named Adrygan. I didn’t name him myself, but in the first dream he was in, he had the name branded on his armor.

He is actually my favorite character since it has been developed. He used to be aggressive in my dreams.

1st dream he tried to kill me
2nd dream he tried to kill a gazelle (which I ended up saving)
3rd dream he chased me. A doctor seized him and attempted to experiment on him, but I set him free.
4th dream he ran beside me in a forest. He frightened me, but he never attacked.

Not at such a rate I have. But the personality of my DC’s is often bright indeed.

This is amazing, considering that in my dreams (100% NDs) I’m either alone, or any DC (if they can even be called like that) says the couple of lines it has to say or does the few things it has to do, and then it’s not there anymore.

Most of my DC’s act just like they would IRL wether that be stupid or smart. Once i was walking down a street and talking with a friend while thinking is this a dream? I looked at how my friend was acting and he was SO realistic that i almost decided that it was real life, almost though i figured it out after realizing that i normally couldnt teleport.
