I am trying to think of an idea for a short film that I’m going to make, but I’m kinda stuck. I usually deal with things to do with reality/insanity and such, and I thought I could do this one about lucid dreaming somehow.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me that could spark some ideas? They would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Well, I don’t have any personal suggestions as such, but I reccomend watching the Japanese movie “Perfect Blue”. If ever a movie messes around with your sense of reality, that one does. I think it could give you some great ideas!
get some old (or new) clothes stamp and smudge dirt into them and then some …no lots of…fake blood then get a bb gun and your mates round and shoot a remake of “dawn of the dead”…5 min version!! D
Have someone who has trouble distinguishing (um… SP?) reality from fantasy… and them have him learn about LD’ing. As the movie progresses, he could have trouble figuring out what is reality and what is a dream.
Or something…
It can be about this person who walks around in a erry real world butslownly you notice how it isnt. Not like sudenly jesus jumps out of the blue locker and start doing the chiken dance , only with things witch isn´t unreal but verry unlikley and strangley objective and small things that you hardly notice but wich gives the feeling that it isnt real.
I’m starting to develop an idea that seems pretty good to me. It’s some guy who is in a dream, and most of the time he is alone with breezey winds, but another person will appear every now and then and this person will be scary. There would be lots of weird noises and ambience and sudden scene changes. There would be no dialogue until the very end, where he realises he is dreaming, becomes lucid, then wakes up immediately (but doesnt show the wake up). In a way, the beginners attempt at a LD. It would be a bit more complex then that, but you get the basic idea. I’m entering it into a short film competition (where the top prize is a $60,000 scholarship to a university and the only limit on the film is the length - under four minutes, which is very achievable.
Cool… which uni is the scholarship for? Is it in Australia or overseas?
It’s a scholarship to Bond University in Queensland (I’m in Western Australia). So if I am lucky enough to get the top prize, then I’ll be moving states.
