Sleep quality & LD

Hello forum,

I have achieved LD a couple of times, where I was flying playing with sharks etc.

In general however I noticed that each time I remember vivid dreams the quality of my sleep is bad, I.e. sleeping on my hand or having a cramp or sweating because of a very warm night etc.

Sometimes due to the nature of my work, I sleep on ships and I can remember whole adventures from these nights.

When I sleep from midnight to 0700 without any disturbance or noise and without any awakenings, I don’t remember any dream. When I sleep but I have noise in the next room and/or I am having some disturbances and awakenings I remember couple of dreams per night.

So my question is: the worst the sleep quality the more dreams remembered and the more chances for LD?

I can’t say for sure that the worst the sleep is, better is the dream recall.

My first LD was after 4.5 hours of sleep, going to bed drunk… but I was fully restored/recovered after that dream.

And my other LD, well, I had a very long and calm night/morning of sleep…

So…?
I could not say for sure bad sleep is better… well, for me, for now…!

I don’t know how to answer your question, but I always have LDs 3 or 4 hours before I wake up, and not when I start sleeping.

It´s not the bad quality of your sleep, but if you awake after your dreams it´s easier to remember them because you are coming right out of your dream and you are more concious.
So if you sleep through the night without (conciously-) waking up you only have a little chance to remember your dreams.

You might try out some autosuggestion like: “Every time I dream I will wake up and remember my dream…” that will increase your dream recall and you get better chances for LD´s.

Indeed. And so some people wake up little while sleeping so don’t experience a connection between bad sleep and vivid dreaming.

Thanks for the replies and clarification.

No problem. Good lucid dreaming!

It might not be the fact you have bad sleep, it’s more likely that because you’re sleeping on your hands, hearing noises, etc you are getting external cues and so become a bit more aware, and as a result can remember your dreams. Hmm maybe setting my watch to beep every hour will help

Hope I helped!
