Sleeping in a bus

Hi

I had a question about a feeling when sleeping in a bus.
When I try to sleep in a car or a bus I often get this feeling of a sound mute/blackout for a second or some.
Where does this thing fit in dreaming or WILD phases?
I also had some dream experiences in a car, it’s like seeing real dream images then u wake up for a second, open your eyes, close again and start to see the dream images really quickly again.
It is like there is no border between sleeping and wake.
Maybe the engine sound has a certain binaureal quality to it?

Also thought what effect could the engine sounds have on us.
Cause the engine noise and car vibration could cause some good/bad binaureal beats, these should be researched, to remove the possible bad effect the noise could have on us.

An engine doesn’t really produce binaural beats, the idea of binaural beats is that two different tones are played into each ear, that are close enough that the brain handles them in a strange way, and the sound appears to ‘beat’. There is a theory that this can be used to affect brain-waves.

The engine sounds in each ear, although very slightly different (allowing you to tell the direction the sound comes from) would unlikely invoke such an effect as the difference will be in ‘volume’, not tone. It is monotonous though which could well have a calming effect for people, it reduces the chance of a sound being raised and needing thinking about, it sort of acts like a muffler for all other sounds, as your mind will ‘tune out’ a repetitive sound. A similar effect may be achievable with white-noise.

The sound black-out you describe, sounds like you suddenly replacing your focus on sound input, after it drifts away to something else, probably thoughts. Everything suddenly seems louder or like it wasn’t there before properly.

Welcome to the forum by the way
