is it safe for someone who used to sleepwalk when they were young to try to partake in lucid dreaming? thanks in advance.
Yes its completely safe! sleepwalking occurs in a an earlier stage of sleep and not REM sleep. In REM sleep your body is in sleep paralysis. Its only in REM sleep where lucid dreaming occurs. So its impossible to sleepwalk while in REM sleep.

Somnambulism is a sickness. Doesn’t it mean that the person who has these things hasn’t got or has just got a very light sort of SP and thus what they do in the dream they act IRL too ?

But Dreamscape_Awakener may be right. Because sleepwalk occurs if you are extremely tired (or having mentally fatigue) and your mind falls asleep before your body does. In fact it falls asleep too early which makes it enter some sort of dream state and because it’s not in SP (SP occurs when the body is asleep too) acts what the person does in the dream or just acts randomly.
The question is, which is it ? Number 1 or 2 ? You should consult a doctor,
orongo - just in case.
- Another sort of ‘sleepwalking’, which I often do. When I wake up directly after a very vivid dream (REM), I’ll continue acting on something that I’ve just dreamed about. For instance, if I dreamed there’s something under my bed, then I can spend minutes looking for it. Or if I’ve dreamed that shelves were coming down from a wall, I sometimes find myself holding up shelves for some time until I finally realize I’m awake.
Anyway, if your sleepwalking is in a semi-awake state like this, then you also have nothing to worry about, because as far as I know people that are lucid in a dream always notice that they’re waking up.
i think that even if you act out the things you are doing while in a lucid dream an RC should show that you are not dreaming, as you really pinch your nose.
