I ve had two nights since finding out about lucid dreaming and as its night im coming up for my third. Here is my outcome so far
1st night:No lucid but i recalled it. People were shouting lucid dream to me randomly but that didnt make a realise i was dreaming But it should have done.
2nd night: Recalled it but just an average dream
@Anyone: If people shouting lucid dream at me wont trigger me to realise and become lucid what am i doing wrong? I know im a total newb at LD’ing but surely that would have done something
You are not doing anything wrong. This just happens, and as time and practise go by you should find that becomming lucid from such triggers is getter less and less hard. Continue whatever technique you are using (or try various other ones), because you are probably close to a LD. Good luck!
Newb: It’s only been two night - that you even achived that is very impressive .
cindy: With most newbies… they wake up pretty much as soon as they become lucid the first handful of times. So, it’s nothing to worry about. It goes away by itself easily enough .
Well last night i thought to myself. Hmm these files shouldnt be on my computer and this isnt my computer !! then a few seconds later charles kennedy walked into the room and i thought. shouldnt he be somewhere else then i thought hmm this is unreal then i heard the sound of a door bell twice very loudly then i woke up. if it hadnt been for the postman waking me up i would’ve had a LD .
P.S. my dream recall is exelent(2 per night) and i think im nearly there.
p.s.s. what polite, nice, welcoming people you all are
acctually he was in my dining room.
oh and another question
i can remember my dreams fo a while so do i need to write then in my journal the moment i wake or can i do it later in the day(does it realy matter when.)
The advice is generally given to write them down immediatly, because dreams are so quickly forgotten. But if you can remember them later, it doesn’t really matter.
Why do we write dreams down? First of all, in order to increase dream recall when we begin LD’ing. Then when we practise MILD, so we can remember dreams to be visualized, and dreamsigns which help us to realize we’re dreaming.
You are missing out on many opportunities to become lucid - because you are not doing reality checks.
Whenever you hear or see anything to do with lucid dreaming you MUST do a reality check. This is what will really let you know that you are dreaming. Without a reality check, your chances of becoming lucid are slim.
A good reality check is to pinch your nose. Pinch your nostils shut and see if you can still breathe through them. If you can still breathe though your nose you are definately dreaming. You can be sure you are dreaming because you are pinching a dream nose and not your real nose - your real nose continues to breathe, even though your dream nose is closed.
If you get into the habit of doing this check every time you hear or see something to do with lucid dreaming (and just when you suspect you may be dreaming), all of those dream opportunities you described will be converted into lucid dreams.
I cant remember to do reality checks.
Last night i dreemt there was a black hole near earth and i didnt even relaise that i should be being sucked at 1,000,000 mph.
Can you(or anyone) please post tips on remembering to reality check coz this is my real downpoint
Newb,
you should start doing regular reality checks throughout the day (if you’re not doing them already). You should do one at least every hour (more preferably). A watch that beeps every hour is useful to remind you. You will never remember to do reality checks in your dreams unless you do them regularly throughout the day. Like anything else, what you do during the day eventually starts to appear in your dreams so it’s very important.
The way you do a reality check is also very important. This is the way I do it:
My watch beeps and it’s time for a reality check. The first thing I do is look around at my surroundings and consider the fact that I may already be in a dream. I look for anything strange or unusual - things that can only happen in a dream. You may think “That’s crazy, I know when I’m awake”, but you still need to do it and seriously consider that you may be dreaming - only then will you do it while you’re dreaming.
Once you have seriously considered whether you are dreaming or not you need to find out for sure. The method I mentioned before (pinch your nose and see if you can still breathe through it) is a good one. Another method is to look at the time on your watch. Then look away for a couple of seconds and then check the time again. If you are dreaming the time will have changed. You probably know all this already, but you need to get into the habit of doing these checks regularly every day.
If you don’t get instant results, don’t give up just keep going - it took me many weeks to get my first lucid dream, but for some people it can happen on the first night.
Another great tip for speeding up your results is to set an alarm to wake you after 5 or 6 hours sleep. Stay awake for 15 minutes to half an hour and use that time concentrating on the lucid dream you are about to have. Some people stay awake for an hour - but I find if I stay awake this long I find it very hard to go back to sleep - everyone’s different, so experiment. When it’s time to go back to sleep, set your inention to realise when you are in a dream, and tell yourself you will do a reality check as soon as you realise this. Don’t just say it, you need to really believe it and expect it to happen. Fall asleep expecting to enter a lucid dream.
The WILD and MILD methods are also very effective when you use them in combination with this method.
This wake/back to bed method really does increase you chances of having a lucid dream tremendously - try it.
If you use these methods and stick with them you are sure to have lucid dreams. It may take days or weeks but it will happen.
The last thing I would say is: Don’t try too hard. Do all the work and keep your attitude relaxed and expectant.
It worked but my cat destroyed my dream joyrnal so i couldnt write it down and now ive forgotten it /
But anyway the only thing i remember that i definatly was a lucid dream and a 2 second one at that
Anyway they say the mroe you have the easier it is so i look foward to my next
Damn cat
Oh well
thanks for the support along the way

Um about two things:
1: I have really sick dreams, and i really feel stupid about not realizing that im dreaming, is there something you can do about it? I mean… I once dreamt that i was swimming in the sunken Titanic, breathing underwater. I swam to a dining room, and under one of the tables Joey from FRIENDS sat, laughing. (I dont need any nightmares, cause my average dreams are scary enough xD )
Another dream i had was that i needed to go to the bathroom, and when i opened the door to the toilet, there was water up to my knees, but i didn’t care and waded to the toilet. When i sat down i remembered that i had told myself to do an RC everytime i used the bathroom, and so i did. That was one of my first lucid dreams, but i couldn’t do “lucid stuff” like flying and such. I went back to normal dreaming some seconds after that.
2: About having a watch beeping so that you remember to do an RC: Well, i’m sure it’s a good idea, but wont you kinda not remember to do it if the watch dont beep?
I mean, do you dream about your watch beeping, or do you suddenly remember it because you do it so often?
Brambleburr,
You just said in your last post that you remembered to do a reality check while you were dreaming - and it made you become lucid. You were lucid!!
What you do with your lucid dreams is important. Don’t feel you have to fly or do any other common lucid activity. The best way to start out is just to explore your surroundings. To explore your own house or some other place while knowing that you are dreaming can be just as exhillarating as flying or anything else. It’s the fact that you are dreaming while realising you are dreaming which is so amazing. Control in lucid dreams comes gradually and it takes practice. Eventually you will be able to fully control your lucid dreams, but for now why not just enjoy the experience of being lucid and see where it takes you?
