So I thought I'd give it a go...

So a few months back I found this site whilst reading up on Lucid Dreaming and I must say, I found it fascinating and was determined to give it a try - however I never got round to doing it.

But! Last night I came back here and thought to myself, heck, I’ll do it, and I’ll do it properly! I knew I’d have to work on my dream recall so I got myself a notebook and pen, put it by my bed and told myself that I would, most definately, remember my dreams!

At some point I must have fallen asleep, because I remember waking up in the morning (another thing, I always seem to find myself bolt upright when I wake up after a dream - is this normal or have I been watching too many movies! ), reached for my notebook and managed to write down the last 2/3 scenes I remembered before waking up.

After this I was still tired, so I lay down again and got to that stage where you’re sort of dreaming but still awake, like, day dreaming, but you know you’re still awake - it’s hard to explain. Sort of inbetween awake and asleep.
Anyway, I must have fallen asleep again, because I remember looking at the noticeboard in my room and there seemed to be some kind of bugs/spiders coming out of it towards me  - I started swatting them away with my pillow.

Then! For some reason I looked at the far wall, realised it was different - thought “Hey, I’m dreaming!” - got really excited then everything started to fade and I woke up.

It only lasted a few seconds after I realised I was dreaming, but I was pretty chuffed all the same, especially since it was only the first time I’d tried and I actually only planned to work on dream recall first! (I was LD’ing right? IIRC LD’ing = knowing you’re dreaming?).

Am I right in thinking this was brought on by something similar to WBTB? Just, without the whole getting up and doing things first?

Can’t wait to see what happens tonight!

yeah as i posted a few hours ago WBTB works for me , and, like you i dont get up and do all the stuff i just sort of daydream into a sleep (we have so much in commen)also this happened to me last night, anyway welcome to the forum craven, i hope you enjoy it

 Welcome!

That’s pretty good how you got lucid so quickly. They say WBTB is a very good method for most people, though it hasn’t done me much good so far. It worked only once for me, and I had very low lucidity. All I did was realize I was dreaming, then woke up. In my couple of lucids, I’ve had 6 DILDs and one VILD. Good job getting it so quickly!

Hi Craven, welcome to the forum!

WBTB in itself isnt a technique to induce LDs. It doesnt do anything actually. If you combine it with WILD, MILD, VILD etc it increases your chances to become lucid, because it makes you a bit more awake and aware, and you already had a few hours of sleep so you hit dreams more easy. Your early succes is most likely caused by your enthausiasm in combination with a lot of thinking about the subject. After all we often dream about whats on our minds during the day. But, seems you got the hang early on, so thats great! Have fun in your upcomming tries .

Thanks Everyone!

I didn’t have as much luck last night, no LD’s, and I found it really hard to fall asleep (I think I was trying too hard!)
Managed to remember a few dream scenes, so I think I’ll go back to working on dream recall for the time being.

How long did it take you guys to get your dream recall up to a sufficient level before concentrating on having LD’s?
When did you start trying the different techniques? MILD, WILD, etc?

I’d be interested to know.
