Yusturday I had my first full, and long LD… (i had 2 short ones before, but this was my first amazing full out LD) and it was soo sooooooo vivid, it amazed me, I could not believe how real it looked, i was in shock how much color, how clear everythign was and how well i remembered it, but ya… I woke up wanting to cry form how beautiful it was.
How vivid are LDs for you usualy? Are they always so vivid?
They aren’t always that clear and beautiful, but ain’t it great when they are? My last few have been really long, and have had okay vividness. (not the best, but good enough) HAVING the LD is the important part, right?
i love those kind of LDs. Especially the ones where you have the chance to just stop and really look around how everything looks. It’s like taking a vacation from real life, and going to a paradise. god I want another LD…lol. well good thing im going to have one tonight…ive been waiting for it…
I had the most amazing LD two days ago as well it was MORE real than reallife it felt like I could count every leave on ever tree if I tried it was amazing and I will write it down in my DJ soon so make sure you read it.
I felt like that too about my last LD… I flew out of my window and the sunlight hit me and it was so bright, so happy, so perfect, I was so amazed, I looked at the grass and couldn’t believe how perfect and how amazing it looked, then I looked around and said “omg… This can’t be a dream… It’s so real…” the only thing that looked unreal were my hands, they looked like they were painted instead of real
Reminds me of an LD I had about a month ago, before I started actually trying to have them. I was outside my junior high school, talking to a friend I had back then, and it was recess. At some point I realized that I had already graduated junior high over 6 years ago (funny how these things don’t immediately tip us off in dreams, isn’t it?) and I was suddenly amazed that my brain was instantly generating all the details I was seeing. Every brick in the building, every leaf on every tree, every pebble on the ground beneath me, every detail of every one of the hundreds of people around me was nothing more than a product of my imagination. It all seemed so vividly realistic. I could not distinguish one visual aspect of my environment that did not look convincingly real. After I got over the shock of that, I tried to have some lucid dream sex but woke up before I could.
High lucidity is the best thing ever. My very first LD, about 3 years ago, was just like that: total lucidity, and rather long. I stared up at the sky and felt the sun on my face, it felt all so perfect, more real than real life itself.
Hi. Just want to throw in my 2c.
I believe that in a dream, the brain only makes up the things you focus on. There are no other things. If you didn’t look at the wall, it never “existed”. This may not be noticed in the dream itself (You’ll sense/see everything you try to take in).
The point? Your brain can only process so much information from your senses. If the imagery is produced by the brain, it doesn’t have to invent every tiny detail around you, only the things you care to notice, and not all at once either, because we don’t see everything at once IRL, too.
One more thing. The bottleneck in our sensual abilities lies in the transmission from the sensing organ to the brain. In our dreams, this bottleneck doesn’t exist, so we can take in more (imagined) information than IRL, which is why LDs are so vivid for many people.
I had a vivid dream like that when I had my first lucid dream. I was helping to extinguish a fire in a movie theater, and when I walked out, I was in K-Mart. I must have been so deep into the dream that I became lucid. I started breakdancing, then I did a wall flip off of Arnold Schwartsineger. It was pretty wierd.
