Sound Induced Lucid Dream

I tried a sound induced lucid dream last night and it didn’t work. I have an old computer down there set to beep three times (a little loudly, but not too loud). I set it to go off about 4 and a half hours after I went to sleep. Thing is, I woke up the moment before it went off, so it was all for nothing. It seems to happen all the time. Every single time as far as I can remember that I have set any kind of alarm, I wake up make 5-10 seconds before it goes off.

This has to do with a mental clock in your head.

Before you go to sleep, don’t think “Ok. I’m waking up at (INSERT TIME HERE)”. If you do, you WILL wake up at that time. Instead think of waking up much later than the beep-alarm you set. You, most likely, won’t wake up before then.

You know Nik J92, you can use this so much in your advantage. Instead of trying to induce lucidity by sound, I recommend you look into Autosuggestion. Voluntarily or not, you are commanding your subconscious to wake up at a specific time (in your case, 5 seconds before the alarm goes off). All you need to do is instead of thinking “I will get up at _____ time”, say “I will realize I’m dreaming at _____ time”.

You should at least consider trying with or without the sound, and if you find yourself having problems, I would further recommend supplementing this autosuggestion with hypnosis (https://www.bwgen.com/), which will basically allow yourself to more easily ‘command’ your subconscious.

If you’re not up for that though, Rotten Apples brings up a very good idea that’s also worthwhile; think of waking up at a much later time (which if you think about it, is also autosuggestion in itself).

Either way, let us know what happens!

If you wake up right before the sound accidentally, you could always try to WILD back to sleep.

Just try doing auto suggestion.

Thanks, everyone.

Oh, really? Thanks.

Sweet. I also started bwgen last night. Is there a forum of it that you can burn onto a CD? I have it on the old computer in my room (I think you remember me mentioning it at DreamPort, lol), but I need it on headphones and the headphone jack on it broke many years ago. I’ll try autosuggestion tonight. Thanks.

Yes, you can save the bwgen files to a .WAV format, and convert those to whatever form you want for whatever is needed (mp3 player…cd…).

Let us know what happens!

Cd players play WAV. I’d stick with WAV because it’s lossless and the less compression on binaural beats the more effective they are. (Some say they aren’t effective unless they’re uncompressed)

Well, auto-suggestion didn’t work last night (listened to bwgen for a while, then a LD mp3 before I went to bed, as well). I’ll try it again tonight.

If I may, I wrote an article on my blog about how to use bwgen for inducing lucidity. It’s here:

Thanks, Mad Hatter.
