I am a beginner at LD. ast night I had a dream I was in my bathroom and staring in the miror. The lights were off, but my reflection was clear though it was night. In this regular dream I had a large hideous bald spot on my head and began to panic wondering what’s wrong with me. And that’s when it hit me. I knew I was lucid. It felt like I was starting to wake up. And as i was I immediatey started repeating, “Stabalize Lucidity!”. But it did reverse as it slowly faded and I opened my eyes. Any thoughts? Also, lately, everynight I have been waking up realy early, like around 2,3 or 4 in the morning, everynight. Just instantly wake up, then just fall back asleep. Only happens once a night.
Well some of the more common techniques involve spinning on your axis (making sure to notice everything in your vision and the feel of the twirl), another is to rub your hands together and focus on the feel of them and concentrate on how real it feels.
I’ve found that my first lucids were much like the one you had where it was a sudden realisation followed by a quick descent into blackness, lately though my better LD’s have faded mainly due to me losing purpose, i’ve already got what i want to do pre-planned but i will get distracted when exploring and as such end up forgetting things (i think this is the big thing to watch out for, in LD’s more memory = better LD due to remembering purpose, techniques, tips etc etc) and my dream fades.
I would try whatever technique works for you, hell try doing some RC’s they may help.
It has happened to me before, it can be very furstrating. The trick is to not stop moving. Movement makes you feel more alive in the dream, stabilises everyhting and keeps you asleep. Don’t just try to concentrate on one thing in the dreamworld and most importand, DON’T panic. Shouting things as “increase lucidity” or “i will stay lucid” etc. also helps.
Yeah when I started to fade, I kept repeating stabalize lucidity all panicky and what not, and then it became like I was dreaming me do so again. The black—>then eyes open. Oh well. I tried that spinning on the axis once and I felt my self spinning, but that was it and I woke. Hopefuly I can achieve these skills with more practice.
Don’t panic! Even if you wake up, you can reenter the dream. It is easiest when you just woke up. What I do is I imagine that I am rubbing my hands, and after a while I can feel it, if not right away. I concentrate on the feeling until I eneter a dream, usually the same one I woke up from.
With that in mind you can be more relaxed about waking up, which in turn makes it easier not to wake up.
