I’ve been meditating on and off for a while now. Around Easter time I started meditating everyday, but then unfortunately I had a long and very busy exam period and gave up on it. Over the summer I tried to pick it up now and again but without much success.
Anyway, last night I was reading through a book on meditation which I’ve had for a few months. I came to a bit about some of the interesting side effects that can happen, such as rapture, and read through them with interest. I then spotted an interesting looking exercise (looking through the eyes of love I think) and decided to give it a go.
I sat down and started to prepare myself for it. If I do any exercises of this type I usually concentrate on my breathing for a few minutes before hand. So I shut my eyes and concentrated on my breathing as I would normally do. After a little while, I started to feel a pressure in my forehead and around my eyes, and as I continued breathing it got stronger and stronger. I started to feel a bit excited, as this could be one of the sideeffects I had been reading about (though I thought it was a bit of a coincidence if it was). I carried on meditating and the pressure kept getting stronger and stronger. By now the pressure was very strong, but I kept going. All of a sudden it got so strong that my eyes suddenly crossed and (I think) pointed up into my forehead, without me consciously doing anything. I started to get an erection at the same time, and for a few moments my eyes stayed crossed with a very intense pressure in my forehead. Then everything subsided.
It would be interesting to hear what anyone thinks it might have been. I know the third eye chakra is meant to be in your forehead, and although I’ve never given much thought to the chakra way of thinking, it almost felt like a lot of energy was building up and then burst out of it.
Yes, but not on a regular basis. But I am familiar with the physical sensations of this type of meditation. However, I much prefer Zazen to chakra work.
meditation is great, the more you do it, and the more different techniques and experiences you get, the more you’ll like it. It will stop being a ‘chore’ and become a hobby.
Last night I did the void meditation, i got very deeply into it and it felt like a crown had been placed on my head then soon after there were images of my past lives coming to me. If you want to experience something really spectactular, try the channeling/running energy meditation technique, the one where you connect with ‘the source’. When i do this, I feel a tingly sensation all over my body that feels almost orgasmic, the kind of sensation you sometimes have when you are getting really into some music that you like and chills go up your spine. Some good meditation music to use is ‘merlins magic’.
i attend a few different meditation classes every week, and have a spiritual teacher from India who has taught me a lot in the past few weeks. He showed me the correct way to do kundalini meditation and it is a very powerful technique. I’ve been meditating for 2 years now and theres so many meditation techniques around that i hardly ever get a chance to try the same one more than 3 or 4 times. It seems like i’m always learning a new technique every week. I’m moving onto Qigong meditations now… which is much more advanced, you don’t just deal with chakra’s but the meridians too, and manipulating the flow of chi through them.
