Hello there! This is my first post on these forums but I’ve been reading alot about LDing from here for a couple of weeks now. I remember having my first LD when I was around 10 years old. It was very short, but it intrigued me at the time and I didn’t know much about it. I forgot about it shortly after, and it wasn’t until about 7 years later when I came across the Wikibook on lucid dreaming. I’ve been trying for a couple of weeks now, keeping a dream journal, improving my dream recall. It all payed off this morning when I had a moderatly sized LD. I was too excited to go back to sleep, so I thought I’d share it with the ld4all forums
I guess it was a combination of WBTB + MILD that induced my first LD. I went to bed at around 12:30am and woke up at about 3:30am. I remembed one dream where there were soft multi-colored balls all over my lawn. I woke up and jotted everything down in my DJ, and went back to sleep. This is where I had it. I was in my dark basement and I tried to switch on the light, but none seemed to be working. Although I thought this was odd, it did not set me off. All of a sudden the FreeBSD devil started chasing me, which I immediatly thought was rediculous and recognized it as a dreamsign. When I realized I was dreaming I was suprisingly calm. I tried some dream stabilization techniques such as hand rubbing and spinning around, which worked quite well. Some of the things I remember doing was looking in the mirror, which was surprisingly clear compared to what others have described. I stuck my finger into my hand, which felt like sticking my finger into a viscous fudge. I also tried to impress a DC by conjuring fire with my hands, they were not amused. Shortly after I woke up, completly refreshed, which felt strange.
One of the main annoyances of the LD was the overall lack of detail from the environment, which might have been because I didn’t spend much time focusing on my surroundings. Overall I thought it was a great first moderatly-lengthed LD, I felt like I just took a tiny step into the overall experience. I can’t wait for the next one
