Sudden Waking Upon Dream Realization ...

I’ve never been able to achieve a lucid dream state, but then … I don’t practice
any technique with the determination and frequency of most members here,
from what I’ve read.
I do manage to realize that I am dreaming though … mostly, I recognize that
what I’m seeing just isn’t possible … the most frequent type of this incident
happens when I’m reading during a dream (I try to go back to the beginning of
a sentence, only to find that the text has changed completely).
At those times, I suddenly realize that I’m dreaming, and that realization excites
me a great deal, causing me to wake up instantly … before any kind of
“spinning” or “hand rubbing” can begin.
I’m searching for a technique to help me to remain more calm upon realization
that I am dreaming … does anyone know of any such technique?

THANKS!

You need some mental preparation. Become more used to the idea. Remind yourself to not get overexcited!
You can try to imagine how it happens and how you will act. And you can practise IRL, but trying to imagine that you are dreaming right now.
Imagine that you are a Zen master, and realizing that you are dreaming is not such a big deal. You just accept that you are dreaming and make the best of the situation.
You don’t have to becoem indifferent, just imagine that you will be cool.

Thanks, krak!
